Commemorating Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, PT Astra International Tbk Reaffirms Its Commitment to Creating and Growing Together with Indonesia

JAKARTA: Indonesia's 81 years of independence represent a collective journey to build the nation. PT Astra International Tbk ("Astra") upholds this spirit by creating, growing, and making meaningful contributions to the community and the country's progress.

This spirit was reflected in the commemoration of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia within the Astra community, attended by Astra's Board of Directors and employees on Monday (17/8), through a flag ceremony and various fellowship activities.

For Astra, this year's commemoration, themed "Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil, dan Makmur" (A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia), reinforces the importance of ongoing contributions for the benefit of the public and the nation.

"This year's Independence Day theme invites us to see independence not merely as a celebration but as a spirit that we continue to bring to life through our work and contributions. Astra is committed to continuing to grow alongside the community through collaboration and contributions that deliver real benefits, while continuing to play a role in supporting Indonesia's progress. The spirit of independence also aligns with Astra's commitment to community engagement through its four pillars of sustainable social contribution, ensuring that Astra's business growth also benefits the public.

Astra's social initiatives focus on empowering rural communities through its flagship Desa Sejahtera Astra program, which covers Health, Education, Entrepreneurship, and Environment.

Currently, over 1,500 Desa Sejahtera Astra are established across 35 provinces, benefiting more than 3 million people.

Nurani Astra for Communities Affected by the Earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara

During this year's independence commemoration, the spirit of unity and care remains central to honoring Indonesia's journey. Astra demonstrates this through Nurani Astra, supporting communities affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara.

To support those affected, Astra, through Nurani Astra, has prepared an initial relief package of 5,000 basic necessities, four Starlink units, and power stations. Aid distribution is coordinated with Kemenko PMK, BNPB, BPBD East Nusa Tenggara, Kansar Ruteng, and local authorities to ensure assistance reaches those in need.

These efforts aim to ease the burden on affected communities and support their basic needs during the emergency response.

Astra's commitment to supporting Indonesia aligns with its aspiration to Prosper with the Nation and contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia.
