Celebrating World Environment Day, Astra Launches “Insan Astra Ayo Naik Transum Jakarta”

JAKARTA: In commemoration of World Environment Day, Astra launched the “Insan Astra Ayo Naik Transum Jakarta” program at Menara Astra, Jakarta, today (6/5). The program is one of Astra's initiatives in support of various efforts by the Special Capital Region of Jakarta to become a greener, more sustainable, and inclusive global city.

The launch was attended by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung, and officials from the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, Astra President Director Rudy, members of Astra's Board of Directors, Astra Group executives, as well as Insan Astra.

“I commend Astra, a company with a long history and significant contributions to Indonesia, for taking part in the campaign to promote public transportation in Jakarta. We hope this step will create a positive impact and set an example for other companies to jointly support a culture of public transportation use in Jakarta,” said Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung.

“Through the 'Insan Astra Ayo Naik Transum Jakarta' program, Astra is participating in promoting a public transportation culture while strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders to support Jakarta's urban development and deliver relevant mobility solutions for the public. We hope this program will create broader benefits in line with Astra's aspiration to prosper with the nation,” said Astra President Director Rudy.

The “Insan Astra Ayo Naik Transum Jakarta” program is an initiative aimed at Astra employees as part of efforts to promote a public transportation culture starting from Astra's own workplace. The program encourages employees to utilize various public transportation options for their daily commute, supported by a cashback program through the AstraPay application, which is already integrated with public transit service apps such as Transjakarta and MRT Jakarta.

Previously, Astra has been present in Jakarta's public transportation spaces through creative art installations featured in open areas at the Bundaran HI Astra Transjakarta bus shelter, the Menara Astra Transjakarta bus shelter, and the Setiabudi Astra MRT station. These art installations are the result of Astra's collaboration with various Indonesian artists.

The launch of these programs reflects Astra's spirit of being a meaningful asset to the nation, as embodied in the company's guiding philosophy, Catur Dharma. This philosophy serves as the foundation for Astra and Insan Astra in conducting business and contributing to Indonesia. Astra and its ecosystem have created economic and social impact that reaches communities across Indonesia through more than 1 million jobs, the empowerment of more than 50,000 local partners, the operations of 322 subsidiaries, and the support of more than 190,000 Insan Astra.

On the sustainability front, in 2022, Astra launched the Astra 2030 Sustainability Aspirations, consisting of 10 sustainability goals. These include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the use of renewable energy in operations, reducing water withdrawal intensity, improving solid waste recycling, and community empowerment through the Desa Sejahtera Astra program.

The Desa Sejahtera Astra program focuses on four areas, namely Health, Education, Environment, and Entrepreneurship. Through this program, Astra strengthens local economies, expands access to education and healthcare, and promotes environmental conservation initiatives to build village self-reliance.

To date, Astra has supported more than 1,500 Desa Sejahtera Astra sites across 35 provinces in Indonesia, reaching more than 3 million beneficiaries. The program has also helped bring various flagship village products to international markets, with a total export valuation of IDR 411 billion.

In the Jakarta area specifically, Astra supports Desa Sejahtera Astra development, including in the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu), the Climate Village Program (Program Kampung Iklim) across 21 villages in partnership with the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia, tree planting initiatives, waste bank management, the mentoring of hundreds of schools and dozens of SMEs (UMKM), as well as contributions to public space development and urban area revitalization.

These initiatives are part of Astra's collaboration with the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta to support sustainable development and improve the quality of life for communities, in line with Astra's aspiration to prosper with the nation and support Indonesia's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
