Toyota Veloz Hybrid EV Named Car of The Year 2026

Jakarta (4/6) – The Toyota Veloz Hybrid EV was named Car of the Year (CoTY) at the 2026 Otomotif Award, hosted by Tabloid Otomotif at Ambyar Super Club, Senayan Park, South Jakarta. Under the theme "Driving Agility: Navigating the Future of Mobility," the Veloz Hybrid EV earned this recognition by excelling in a comprehensive evaluation of technical performance and its positive impact on the public and the automotive industry.

The CoTY title was awarded following a thorough evaluation by the Tabloid Otomotif team, which assessed performance, value for money, efficiency, innovation, design, comfort, safety, practicality, and positive impact on consumers and the Indonesian automotive industry. The jury also considered market acceptance, sales figures, and the strength of the user community.

Safety, a key evaluation parameter, reflects the Astra Group's commitment to ensuring every vehicle undergoes rigorous safety and security verification in line with national and international standards.

The Veloz Hybrid EV supports national economic growth by creating export opportunities, generating foreign exchange, and expanding employment.

As part of Toyota's affordable electrified vehicle lineup, the Veloz Hybrid EV upholds the brand's Quality, Durability, and Reliability (QDR). It is the only full hybrid EV in the Low MPV segment, starting at IDR 308 million, with a special price of IDR 303 million under the "Hybrid EV untuk Semua" program. The top-tier Q HEV TSS Modellista variant is priced at IDR 389 million (OTR Jakarta).

Powerful, Quiet, and Efficient Hybrid Technology for a 7-Seater Vehicle

The 2NR-VEX 1,500 cc engine is paired with a Series-Parallel Hybrid System featuring a globally patented Power Split Device. This combination delivers a powerful yet quiet driving experience, with smooth transitions between the gasoline engine and electric motor.

The hybrid technology has been refined to meet the demands of a 7-seater vehicle, providing strong output and ensuring the system remains powerful, smooth, quiet, and highly efficient.

The Veloz Hybrid EV demonstrated its durability during the Ekspedisi Veloz Hybrid EV Lintas Nusa, traveling from Mandalika Circuit in West Nusa Tenggara to Medan in North Sumatra.

Over 47 days, a single Veloz Hybrid EV Q variant traveled more than 7,700 km, crossing 4 islands, 14 provinces, and 45 cities. This journey reaffirmed the Veloz Hybrid EV's QDR in diverse road conditions and highlighted the positive reception of Toyota products across Indonesia.

Toyota's Award-Winning Lineup and the Astra Group's Electrification Commitment

In addition to the CoTY title, Toyota received recognition in other categories at the 2026 Otomotif Award. The Veloz Hybrid EV won Best Low MPV, and the Vios Hybrid EV was awarded Best Small Sedan.

The Vios Hybrid EV is the first entry sedan to adopt hybrid technology, building on Toyota's reputation for practicality, comfort, driving enjoyment, and reliability. Enhancements in performance, features, and interior design have further improved comfort, enjoyment, and efficiency.
