Toyota Launches the New Hilux with a More Powerful 1GD Engine and a Bolder Design, Ready to Support Productivity and Adventure

Jakarta, (29/6) — PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) has introduced the New Hilux, featuring significant upgrades in performance, design, comfort, safety, and ride quality. Powered by a 1GD-FTV 2.8L diesel engine delivering 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque, the New Hilux reinforces its reputation for Quality, Durability, and Reliability (QDR), making it a trusted choice for business, challenging terrain, and adventure.

Toyota is also expanding electrification in the commercial segment with the New Hilux Battery EV. This environmentally friendly model retains the Hilux's toughness and reliability, featuring two electric motors and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) for responsive performance and optimal traction in diverse conditions.

This is reflected in its 4x4 Pick-Up market share, which grew from 57% in January–May 2025 to 70.2% in the same period in 2026. More Powerful Performance with the 1GD-FTV 2.8L Diesel Engine

A key upgrade for the New Hilux is the 1GD-FTV 2.8L diesel engine, which delivers greater power and a more responsive drive in all conditions. This 2,755 cc 4-cylinder engine produces 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque, enhancing capability for hauling, navigating tough terrain, and daily operations.

This upgrade meets the needs of both fleet and private customers seeking strong power, durability, and reliable performance. All variants feature a 4WD (Part Time) system with Rear Differential Lock, enhancing driver confidence in challenging conditions. The proven 1GD-FTV engine ensures the Hilux remains a dependable and comfortable mobility partner.

To deliver an even more refined driving experience, Toyota has enhanced the New Hilux's comfort, stability, and handling, ensuring a smooth ride on long journeys and easy control across all road conditions, including off-road terrain.

Cyber SUMO Design: A Bolder and More Commanding Appearance

The New Hilux also receives a significant exterior refresh that gives it an even bolder, more advanced, and more functional appearance. Carrying the "Cyber SUMO" design concept, this model reflects a strong, sturdy, and agile 4x4 pick-up built to meet diverse mobility needs.

Inspired by the stance of a sumo wrestler, the front-end design conveys solidity and stability. The Dual Volume Architecture with Strong Core is evident in the radiator grille, front bumper, and fenders. Slim LED headlamps and "TOYOTA" lettering on the front and rear reinforce its iconic and advanced look.

The New Hilux Double Cabin measures 5,320 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width, and 1,815 mm in height, with a 3,085 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance has increased from 286 mm to 312 mm, improving off-road capability and reinforcing its bold stance.

Modern Interior and Advanced Features Across Every Variant

Inside, the New Hilux offers a modern, comfortable, and functional cabin. The horizontal dashboard design improves driver visibility, especially on unpaved roads.

1. V Variant: The Flagship All-Rounder

The flagship V variant features a 12.3-inch multimedia display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-inch Full TFT MID, a steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustment, and a wide center console, emphasizing its robust all-rounder character.

The V variant is designed for customers seeking a powerful and durable 4x4 for outdoor, adventure, and professional use, while complementing their lifestyle. It features Full LED Headlamps, Gloss Black Grille, Satin Silver Lower Bumper, Fog Lamps, Over Fenders, Electric Auto Retract Side Mirrors, Side Steps, 18-inch Alloy Wheels, Rear Deck Side Steps, Deck Bedliner, and High Mount Stop Lamp.

For added comfort and convenience, the V variant includes a Type-C Port, Wireless Charger, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Drive Mode, Electric Power Steering (EPS), 4x4 Switch, Start/Stop Engine, Driver Power Seat Adjustment, and Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) with Dirt, Mud, Sand, Deep Snow, and Auto settings.

2. G Variant: Functional and Ready to Explore

The G variant features a functional design with a Material Gloss Black Grille, Silver Satin Lower Bumper, Fog Lamps, Overfenders, Rear Deck Side Steps, High Mount Stop Lamp, 17-inch Alloy Wheels, Wireless Charger, and 7-inch MID.

For added convenience, the G variant includes Parking Support Alert to assist drivers during maneuvers, especially in tight spaces or when parking.

3. E Variant: Tough Enough for Daily Operations

The E variant features a clean design with a Material Black Grille, Black Grain Material Lower Bumper, and 17-inch Alloy Wheels. It also offers Power Windows, Central Lock, and Electric Adjustment Side Mirrors to support daily operational needs.

Leading Safety with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0

Safety remains a top priority for Toyota. Select New Hilux variants are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0, which includes Pre-Collision System (PCS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), and Auto High Beam (AHB).

The New Hilux Single Cabin measures 5,320 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, 1,795 mm in height, with a 3,085 mm wheelbase and 306 mm ground clearance. It includes Power Windows, Central Lock, Electric Adjustment Side Mirrors, and a 2DIN Audio Head Unit with Bluetooth for daily comfort and practicality.

New Hilux Battery EV Expands Electrification in the Commercial Segment

As part of the Toyota Multipathway Strategy, the New Hilux Battery EV expands electrification in the commercial segment. It retains the Hilux's toughness and reliability, powered by two electric motors, All-Wheel Drive (AWD), a 59.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, and a maximum output of 144 kW.

This setup provides responsive power, optimal traction, and reliable performance on slippery, muddy, and unpaved surfaces. With De-Dion suspension for improved stability, the New Hilux Battery EV offers a low-emission alternative for customers seeking sustainable operational or personal mobility.
