A sustainability framework is a strategic structure used by companies to guide all of their activities so they align with sustainability principles.
This framework functions as a guideline for making both short-term and long-term decisions while still paying attention to environmental, social, and governance aspects, commonly known as ESG.
With a sustainability framework in place, you can see how a company manages risks, evaluates opportunities, and maintains ethical and responsible operational continuity.
Astra developed the Triple-P Roadmap Strategy as the core of its sustainability framework. In general, this strategy integrates sustainability principles into three main pillars, namely:
1. Portfolio Roadmap: Focused on energy transition and strengthening the business model.
2. People Roadmap: Creating a work environment that is safe, inclusive, and productive.
3. Public Contribution Roadmap: Empowering communities and expanding the company’s social impact.
From these three pillars, it is clear that this strategy is supported by Good Corporate Governance (GCG) as the main driving force. Not only that, but this strategy also forms the foundation of Astra 2030 Sustainability Aspirations and the roadmap toward Astra Net Zero Scope 1 & 2 by 2050.
Below is an explanation of the implementation of the Triple-P Roadmap Strategy, comprising the Portfolio, People, and Public Contribution pillars.
This pillar reflects Astra’s commitment to reducing emissions and transitioning to cleaner energy sources. For example, in 2024, Astra succeeded in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 17.41%, supported by emission-reduction efforts across the value chain through energy efficiency, renewable energy utilization, and carbon credit purchases.
Astra also increased the proportion of revenue from non-coal businesses to 75% in 2024, demonstrating its commitment to reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
The People Roadmap is a pillar focused on workplace safety, talent development, and inclusivity in the workplace. Astra targets zero fatalities and aims to reduce workplace accident rates by 60% by 2030.
In addition, Astra established the Astra Women Leaders Development Program to encourage women’s participation in strategic positions. Throughout 2024, 34 women served as Directors, representing 17.35% of the Astra Group's Board of Directors.
Astra believes that sustainability cannot be achieved without community participation. Therefore, through the Public Contribution pillar, Astra runs community-based social programs, including:
These three programs have reached more than 2.5 million beneficiaries, focusing on village economic empowerment, environmental conservation, improved access to education, and healthcare services.
By implementing this framework, Astra aims to achieve its core purpose: “Sejahtera Bersama Bangsa.” To realize this goal, Astra follows two main visions:
1. To become one of the best-managed companies in the Asia Pacific region with sustainable growth and a strong financial structure.
2. To become an intelligent and agile company that focuses on employees, customers, and society.
Meanwhile, Astra’s sustainability commitments based on the Triple-P Roadmap Strategy include:
Compared with other companies, Astra’s sustainability framework has several advantages, including:
In addition, this framework aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda. It serves as an important navigation tool for addressing global challenges such as climate change, energy transition, and social inequality.
