Astra focuses its commitment on the climate and planet, contributes to Indonesia’s economic growth, and supports inclusive and prosperous communities. These priorities appear in the Astra 2030 Sustainability Aspirations, which outline various aspirations to achieve by 2030.
Astra has established seven Flagship Initiatives across the Astra Group to achieve these targets, including:
1. Fuel Smart: Improving progress achieved by all business units in fuel and energy efficiency.
2. Renew & Reduce: Increasing renewable energy capacity within operations.
3. Future of Mobility: Investing in Indonesia’s electric vehicle ecosystem.
4. Future of Mines: Focusing on diversification into non-coal mineral mining.
5. Renewable Future: Drive projects and investments in renewable energy.
6. Go Nature: Implementing nature-based solutions, starting with an initiative to plant three million trees.
7. Astra for Everyone: Launch programs focused on diversity, equality, and inclusion with an emphasis on gender.

Below are some achievements of the Astra 2030 Sustainability Aspirations program throughout 2024.
In 2024, Astra achieved various milestones under the Portfolio Roadmap, including a 17.41% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, compared with 13.96% in 2023.
Astra achieved this milestone by actively reducing emissions across its value chain through energy efficiency initiatives, renewable energy use, and carbon credit purchases. Meanwhile, the renewable energy mix for operations reached 44%, supported by biomass, solar panels, biofuels, and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
Astra will strengthen these efforts by developing renewable energy initiatives as a strategic step to support the national energy transition and achieve the Astra 2030 Sustainability Aspirations.
Astra also supports its subsidiary Astragraphia's initiative to align emission-reduction targets with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In 2024, Astra increased the proportion of revenue from non-coal businesses to 74%, aligning with Astra’s aspiration to strengthen business resilience by reducing dependence on the coal sector.
The AHEMCE Group has decided not to invest in new coal mines, reinforcing its commitment to the sustainability transition.
Astra strengthens its commitment to create a safe, inclusive, and sustainable workplace environment for all employees through the People Roadmap. Astra demonstrates implementation by adopting the Mandatory Key Action (MKA) and committing to the principle “People First, Safety by All for All.”
Astra strengthens its Occupational Safety and Health (K3) management system and builds a strong safety culture across all business lines through this approach. Talent development also remains a top priority within Astra’s sustainability strategy. Astra ensures that business growth goes hand in hand with human resource development.
The Astra Sustainability Academy develops competency, equipping employees with a deeper understanding of ESG principles and relevant technical skills to support the transition toward more sustainable business practices.
Astra also promotes diversity and inclusion through initiatives that provide equal opportunities and create a competitive work environment. Astra specifically designed the Women Leaders Development Program to promote women’s leadership.
This program strengthens women’s roles in strategic decision-making and builds an inclusive, innovative, and adaptive organizational culture. In 2024, 34 women leaders served as Directors within the Astra Group, representing 17.35% of the total Board of Directors.
Astra empowers communities and improves social welfare through the Public Contribution Roadmap as part of its sustainability commitment. Throughout 2024, Astra implemented social programs under four main pillars: health, education, environment, and entrepreneurship, focusing particularly on rural areas.
These initiatives directly benefit rural communities across Indonesia and create long-term positive impacts. Astra integrates the four pillars into community-based flagship programs, including Semangat Astra Terpadu Untuk (SATU) Indonesia Awards, Desa Sejahtera Astra (DSA) village development program, and Kampung Berseri Astra (KBA) community development program.
By the end of 2024, the SATU Indonesia Awards had recognized 97 national-level recipients and 629 provincial-level recipients. In addition, Astra has supported 1,515 DSA and KBA villages, benefiting communities through economic empowerment, improved access to education and healthcare, and environmental conservation initiatives.
One notable achievement is the success of DSA Samosir, which exported 770 kg of Andaliman spice, valued at IDR 455 million, to Germany and France. Astra also facilitated partnerships between DSA communities and Chinese entrepreneurs, enabling the export of coconut products from Indragiri Hilir and 3,500 Djembe drums from Blitar, totaling IDR 47.6 billion in trade value.
