
JAKARTA: Astra and Gojek are back for a collaboration to initiate a pilot project of the electric motorcycles use or electric vehicle (VE) in Indonesia through Gojek app, especially in GoRide service, in order to promote a green lifestyle.
The initiative from these two national companies aims to study the effectiveness of EV motorcycle as an alternative app-based transportation service, which results are expected to be a reference for further stage of EV research and development.
Director of Astra Paulus Bambang Widjanarko states, “This collaboration is a concrete form of the cooperation between two national companies, that are Astra with the automotive experiences, especially in two wheels segment, and Gojek that is a leading on-demand technology platform in Indonesia. The initiative is in line with Astra’s sustainable social contribution in terms of environment, that is Astra for Green Indonesia (Astra Untuk Indonesia Hijau) and Astra’s aim to prosper with the nation.”
Chief Operations Officers of Gojek Hans Patuwo adds, “Through the combination of experiences in automotive industry and leadership in technology industry, Astra and Gojek always strive for excellence in presenting numbers of innovations for Indonesia. In the trial in Jakarta, selected Gojek’s driver partners will serve customers by using Electric Honda PCX provided by Astra.”
The result of the trial that integrates the electric Honda PCX into Gojek’s ecosystem, for both driver’s partner and customer experience, will be an input to explore possible cooperative development into a larger scale.
The trial use of this electric motorcycles supports environmentally-friendly options of transportation for the people, as well as improves the convenience and safety through sophisticated design and technologies. Besides, Electric Honda PCX being trial will reserve operational and maintenance fee.
Besides being used for field trial in Jakarta, one unit of Electric Honda PCX and its charging station is exhibited at Gojek booth in Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2019 at ICE BSD on July 25th -26th, 2019.
