Road Safety Movement, Astra's Commitment to Raise Safe Driving Awareness in Indonesia

JAKARTA: The number of road traffic accidents declines during the COVID-19 pandemic, as people are making less journeys in this period.

In order to increase public awareness on the importance of safe driving, Astra initiated the road safety movement Indonesia Ayo Aman Berlalu Lintas (IAABL) in 2014. Various activities to support this program have been held ever since on a yearly basis.

The IAABL movement is Astra's contribution to increase awareness of safe driving in Indonesia.

As of 2019, a total of 34.6 million people have benefited from this program, the number of IAABL advocates grew to 6,838 and as much as 130,892 people have been educated.

This year, Astra targeted the IAABL program to educate 150,000 people through road safety campaigns. They have been divided into three segments of customers, students, and the general public.

Astra also supports Kampung Berseri Astra (KBA) Pandean Lamper in Semarang, Central Java, known as the pioneer of “safety riding” village where everyone is committed to implement road safety programs.

Safety Driving Certification
Astra and Astra World recently held a Safety-Driving Competency Certification in Cileungsi for 20 employees of Astra Group’s companies on 12-13 August 2020. The certification process comprises a virtual training, in-class session and practice session, which were conducted in accordance with health protocols.

Employees attended this training were expected to share their knowledge with their co-workers, family members and Astra Group’s customers.

In June-July 2020, four webinars were also held for students of Gorontalo State University, Diponegoro University, Indonesian Art Institute Yogyakarta and Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Over 400 students participated in the webinars.

In commemoration of the 65th Bhayangkara Traffic Day, Astra will hold a virtual IAABL Festival in October 2020, which will be joined by various IAABL communities across Indonesia.

Astra’s efforts of promoting road safety is in line with Astra’s mission to prosper with the nation.
