Promoting Road Users’ Safety and Convenience, Astra Organizes A Road Traffic Safety Festival

JAKARTA: Commemorating the 66th Bhayangkara Traffic Day, Astra held a road traffic safety festival, Indonesia Ayo Aman Berlalu Lintas (IAABL), with the theme “Road Safety and Convenience” today (24/9). The festival demonstrates Astra’s concern for road traffic safety.

The Director of Security and Safety of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Brigadier General Pol. Prof. Dr. Chryshnanda Dwilaksana, M.Si; Director of Astra, Gita Tiffani Boer; and Chairman of the Indonesian Motorcycle Association, Bambang Soesatyo, were also present and delivered a message of safety in this virtual event.

“We all have to work together to realize our shared goal of increasing compliance to traffic rules and regulations and safe driving practice of Indonesia’s road users,” said Director of Astra, Gita Tiffani Boer, in her speech.

Also on this event was an IAABL Podcast session hosted by Imam Darto, where automotive influencer Alinka Hardianti, cyclist influencer Tabby Sumendap, and General Manager Corporate Communications of PT Astra Honda Motor, Ahmad Muhibbuddin, discussed topics on regulations in Indonesia, drivers’ behavior, and vehicle factors.

Comic Marshel Widianto added to the excitement of the festival with his standup comedy performance. The festival concluded with the Road Traffic Safety Month Award, an IAABL program competition for Astra Group companies.

Previously, from May to September 2021, Astra organized a series of activities leading to the IAABL Festival, such as the Road Traffic Safety Month campaign and making the Tour de Indonesia video in eight cities in Indonesia.

Increase Awareness of Global Road Traffic Safety

Astra initiated the IAABL program in 2014 to increase Indonesian people’s awareness of road traffic safety behaviors.

In developing the IAABL program, Astra referred to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the third goal, Good Health and Well-Being, target 3.6: halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents. It ensures that the program implemented is in line with the government’s development goals.

Activities carried out in the IAABL program also aim to support the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, focusing on safety education for customers, students and the general public, and employees.

For example, training on safe driving and riding, education on product safety features, promoting road safety via webinars/talk shows, social media campaigns, IAABL module training by master trainers, and the Company’s internal pioneers.

Astra has recruited 7,960 IAABL pioneers, educated 166,938 people and 845 online ride-hailing drivers on the IAABL program, and affected more than 34 million people.

Astra’s efforts to increase public awareness on the importance of road traffic safety are in line with the SDGs and Astra’s mission to Prosper with the Nation.
