
JAKARTA: PT Astra Interntional Tbk together with Astra Group companies through the program Nurani Astra has distributed initial aid worth IDR 2 billion until today to six refugee locations of the tsunami victims in Banten and Lampung.
“We coordinate with various parties to ensure the aid from Astra and Astra Group companies can be directly received by the tsunami victims in Banten and Lampung. May God protect all of us,” said Pongki Pamungkas, Chief of Corporate Communications, Social Responsibility & Security of PT Astra International Tbk today (25/12).
After the tsunami on Saturday night (22/12), many Astra Group companies have deployed personnels and goods directly to the location of the disaster.
These are the aid distributed by Nurani Astra to locations affected by the tsunami:
1. PT Astra International Tbk
a. 1 Rescue car and 5 personnels
b. First-batch logistic aid, such as 70 boxes of biscuits, 3 boxes of energen, 131 boxes of ready-to-drink milk, 254 boxes of instant noodles, 50 boxes of mineral water, 50 kg of rice, 2 boxes of corned beef, 5 boxes of coffee, 10 boxes of sugar, 20 boxes of frying oil, 1 box of tampon, and medicines.
2. PT United Tractors Tbk & PT Pamapersada Nusantara:
a. 1 Rescue car and team of personnels
b. 3 Units of heavy equipment PC 200 and lowboy truck in Banten
c. 2 Units of PC 50, 1 unit of dumptruck, and 1 lowboy truck in Lampung
d. 2 Emergency-response teams (each consists of 5 personnels and 1 medical staff) in Lampung and Banten
3. PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk:
a. Heavy equipment aid
b. Logistic aid, such as rug, blanket, and mineral water
4. PT Marga Mandala Sakti:
a. Survey team and 5 personnels of emergency-response team
b. First-batch logistic aid, such as 180 pcs of blankets and 25 boxes of tea
5. Astra Group Banten & Lampung:
a. Logistic aid, such as 25 boxes of instant noodles, 6 boxes of snacks, and 36 boxes of mineral water
Until yesterday evening, the aid has been distributed to six refugee locations, they are in the Regional Disaster Management Office (BPBD) Cinangka, Galaya Village, Kokosan Village and Salaparang Village in Banten, as well as Way Muli Village and Sukaraja Village in South Lampung.
The temporary record collected by the National Disaster Management Agency up to Monday (24/12) at 5 PM GMT+7 shows that 373 people died, 1,459 people injured, 128 people missing, and 5,665 people evacuated. Physical loss of the tsunami includes 681 units of broken houses, 69 units of broken hotels and villas, 420 units of broken boats and ships, 60 units of broken kiosks and stores, and tens of broken vehicles.
The victims and loss are found in 5 affected regencies, they are Pandeglang, Serang, South Lampung, Tanggamus, and Pesawaran. Those are the areas in Banten and Lampung that are close to Sunda Strait. The coast of Pandeglang Regency is the area with most number of victims and loss, compared to the other affected areas.
Nurani Astra Post in Banten is opened at Marga Mandalasakti office in East Serang Toll Gate at Ujung Kulon National Park Hall, Kertajaya, Sumur District, by Pama Group Banten. While Nurani Astra Post in Lampung is located at Auto2000 Kalianda office, Jl. Trans Sumatera, Way Urang, South Lampung, and at the office of South Lampung Regent, by Pama Group Lampung.
The aid is expected to be beneficial for the people in Banten and Lampung. According to the principle, whatever activity done by Astra needs to be beneficial to its surroundings and society. It is in accordance with Astra’s aim to prosper with the nation.
