Nurani Astra Aids West Sulawesi Earthquake Victims

JAKARTA: Astra and Astra Group companies, through Astra Nurani program, have distributed the initial phase of assistance to help communities affected by the earthquake in Mamuju and Majene Regencies, West Sulawesi.

Nurani Astra set up the Nurani Astra Aid Post in Mamuju. From 16 January 2021, with the support of 26 volunteers from Astra Group, it has distributed aid and mobilized heavy equipment and other transportation facilities to help the government speed up relief efforts.

“Astra Group not only distributed aid through Nurani Astra Post that we had established in Mamuju, but we also mobilized heavy equipment and other transportation facilities to help the government speed up relief efforts. We hope our assistance ease the community and the government’s burden,” said Astra’s Chief of Corporate Affairs, Riza Deliansyah.

Astra distributed aid through Astra Group’s Makassar Regional Coordinator, providing 1,500 staple food packages and logistical needs for the earthquake victims in the form of generators, tarps, blankets, staple food, medicines, hygiene kits, and supplies for children.

Astra and Amaliah Astra Foundation also raised funds to help victims of the West Sulawesi earthquake through Nurani Astra’s account.

PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk and its subsidiaries, namely PT Letawa, PT Pasangkayu, PT Mamuang, and PT Suryaraya Lestari have deployed two PC200 excavator units, two dump trucks, one D85 dozer unit, one loader unit, one ambulance unit, one minibus unit, and generators. The Association of Wives of Astra Agro Lestari Employees (Periska) also distributed assistance in the form of staple food packages, medicines, supplies for babies, and 400 packed meals.

PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) and its subsidiary, PT Pamapersada Nusantara (Pama), rushed to help immediately following the disaster by providing two excavators units to assist in earthquake victims’ evacuation. UT and Pama have also distributed 150 packages containing 5 kg of rice, mineral water, instant noodles, vitamins, blankets, sarongs, and tarps for disaster victims in Mamuju.

Astra Motor South Sulawesi also distributed emergency relief to people affected by the disaster in the form of staple food packages, generators, sleeping equipment, and other daily necessities at the evacuation sites.

PT Federal International Finance (FIFGROUP), as coordinated by FIFGROUP’s Palu branch office, distributed staple food packages to the surrounding communities affected by the earthquake.

PT Serasi Logistik Indonesia also provided transportation to carry staple food packages to Nurani Astra Aid Post.

Disasters in Other Areas
During the past week, natural disasters also hit other areas in Indonesia, such as floods in South Kalimantan, landslides in Sumedang, West Java, and floods and landslides in Manado.

Staple food packages and medical masks were also provided by Astra Group’s Banjarmasin Regional Coordinator and other Astra Group Regional Coordinators.

Astra’s aid for victims of natural disasters is in line with Astra’s mission to prosper with the nation and Astra’s sustainable social contribution pillars.
