Menara Astra Marks Astra’s 62 Years Inspiring the Nation

JAKARTA: From a simple office in Sabang Street No. 36 A, Central Jakarta, a noble idea was born: to build a company that can become ‘a shady tree’ and benefit everyone who takes shelter under it. This goal of Astra’s founder Oom William Soeryadjaya has been the initial motivation for PT Astra International Tbk (Astra) to progress up to now.

Today, exactly for 62 years, Astra has been progressing in Indonesia. With 226 subsidiaries under its seven business lines, which are Automotive, Financial Services, Heavy Equipment, Mining, Construction & Energy, Agribusiness, Infrastructure and Logistics, Information Technology, and Property, Astra is now supported by 226,140 children of the nation who work in it.

Likewise, Astra is continuously doing its sustainable social contribution in four areas, which are Astra for Healthy Indonesia, Astra for Smart Indonesia, Astra for Green Indonesia, and Astra for Creative Indonesia. These are supported by nine Astra’s foundations.

President Director of PT Astra International Tbk Prijono Sugiarto, in his speech, says that the theme of Astra’s 62^nd Anniversary is ‘Inspiring the Nation’. “This theme, we consider, is relevant in the context of dynamic social, politics, and economics in 2019. To keep promoting and maintaining Astra as an institution that keeps inspiring the nation are something that we, Insan Astra, need to fight for throughout Indonesia,” said Prijono.

Menara Astra

After ground-breaking on December 10^th, 2013, and topping-off on February 20^th, 2017, Menara Astra is officially launched today.

Built on 1.1-hectare land in the heart of the capital city, Menara Astra has 47 construction floors, as well as three-storey retail support facilities and six basement floors. With up to 63 marketing floors, the height of Menara Astra reaches 261 meters and makes Menara Astra the fourth highest building in Jakarta.

Menara Astra has also won the Building and Construction Authority Green Mark Platinum Certificate for having 40% or more energy efficiency compared to skyscrapers in general.

Menara Astra is equipped with a convention hall with a capacity of up to 1,500 people.

Galeri Astra

One of Menara Astra’s uniqueness is by having Galeri Astra, which is an expression of Astra’s journey and achievements with the Indonesian people. Starting from the company’s philosophy, Astra’s aim to prosper with the nation, the journey of Astra’s Unified Spirit for Indonesia (Semangat Astra Terpadu Untuk Indonesia/SATU Indonesia), to Astra’s goal to be pride of the nation by 2020, which are transformed into wall murals and sculptures through the hands of Indonesia’s best artists. The artists are Dolorosa Sinaga, Mangu Putra, Heri Dono, Agus Suwage, Chusin Setiadikara, and Budi Lim as the architect.

Astra holds a photo competition on Instagram entitled #IniMenaraAstra to enliven the launch of Menara Astra. The competition with a total prize of IDR 62 million starts from January 14^th until February 28^th, 2019.

1^st Winner will be entitled to IDR 14,000,000 cash, 2^nd Winner will be entitled to IDR 10,000,000 cash, 3^rd Winner will be entitled to IDR 7,000,000 cash, 10 favourite winners will be entitled to @ IDR 2,500,000 cash, and 12 winners with most likes will be entitled to @ IDR 500,000 cash.
