InnovAstra Discovers 6,691,989 Projects

JAKARTA: Since 1980, innovation has been announced as Astra’s culture. InnovAstra becomes an annual event to promote innovation skill of Astra Employee throughout Indonesia. Each year, InnovAstra has been a part of Astra’s 59 Anniversary. The 32^nd held event sets Bringing Up the Next Landscape as a theme.

“This event shows that InnovAstra is a reflection of consistency and belief of Astra Employee to continuously doing the best in building Astra from time to time. The result is what we see and feel today. Astra is keep developing and being one of the Nation’s assets which later is aimed to be the Pride of the Nation,” said President Director of PT Astra International Tbk Prijono Sugiarto.

The accomplished performance is a result of process. For Astra, this is a belief that shows good process will lead to a good result with 3W values (Winning Team, Winning Concept and Winning System). With Winning Team, Astra believes that Astra Employee can face opportunity and business challenge by being together. An excellence Winning Concept may broaden company opportunity to win the competition through a leading strategy. Then, through Winning System, it ensures a well-implemented strategy.

“In new landscape phase, it means no added portfolio but a breakthrough on business model, business process, and also right organization model which all works in line with the spirit of innovation in implementing the 32^nd InnovAstra,” Prijono added.

In the event, two guest contributors that have shown innovation on their industries present. They are the CEO of Bukalapak.com Achmad Zaky and CEO of PT NET Mediatama Televisi Wishnutama Kusubandio.

“Innovation must continue. If one innovation is completed, [we must] continue to innovate for new things and do [it] for bigger goals,” said Achmad Zaky during sharing session in front of Astra innovators.

Meanwhile, during sharing session, Wishnutama uttered, “An innovative nation is the one that tries to accept diversity as power.” Furthermore, he always puts himself in discomfort zone to create new innovation.

Astra defines innovation as a mandatory act in working in each fields as well as contribution to advancement and success of the nation. This is the spirit that encourages Astra to manifest goals to be Pride of the Nation in 2020 together with 222,029 Astra Employee from 197 companies.

The Achievements of 2016 InnovAstra Projects

There are five competition categories in InnovAstra every year. In 2016, InnovAstra projects are listed below:

1. Suggestion System Category (SS) is an individual improvement and innovation category that has resulted in 733,907 projects.
2. Quality Control Circle Category (QCC) is a team improvement and innovation category under one department that has resulted in 8,098 projects.
3. Quality Control Circle Category (QCP) is cross-department improvement and innovation category in one division that has resulted in 1,149 projects.
4. Business Performance Improvement Category (BPI) is cross-division team improvement and innovation in one company that has resulted in 92 projects.
5. Value Chain Innovation Category (VCI), started in 2013, is cross-company improvement and innovation category that has resulted in 25 projects.

Hence, total projects of 5 categories reached 743,271 projects. Meanwhile, from its first launch in 1980 until today, InnovAstra has brought 6,691,989 outcomes.

Astra Green Company (AGC) and Astra Friendly Company (AFC)

Besides giving appreciation to InnovAstra winners of five categories, AGC and AFC awards are also presented to companies in Astra Group. AGC has been started in 1999. It continues to develop until today. AGC caters criteria at Environment, Health and Safety (LK3). AGC aims to obtain environmental friendly business operation and sustainability in each business as well as operation of Astra Group. AFC is a comprehensive structure guide to implement management system and to measure sustainable CSR development.

Astra Green Company judgment process is divided into two categories:

a. Cleaner Production & Pollution Prevention Program

b. Occupational Health & Safety Program

For Astra Friendly Company, judgment process is divided into four categories, which are:

a. Achieving Universal Primary Education Program

b. Improving Community Health Program

c. Conducting Income Generating Activities Program

d. Conservation and Sanitation for Community Program

There are 55 companies registered as participants from all companies in Astra Group. Grand judges from Astra Group, Ministry of Environment and Forestry Republic of Indonesia, Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia, Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia, Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Republic of Indonesia, and University of Indonesia judge all.

All activities is based on the principal that wherever Astra is, it has to bring benefits for its surrounding. The principal is in accordance with the first value of Catur Dharma Astra (Corporate Philosophy) that is To be an Asset to the Nation.

Astra Award

In addition to AGC and AFC, Astra Award is also presented as appreciation to best performing companies in all aspects within Astra Group. Beyond business performance, Astra Award also judges the companies based on 3W principals, in which believed to be able to drive companies in winning business competition.

Astra Award is divided into four groups. Group 1 is followed by 10 companies, then Group 2 is followed by 4 companies. Moreover, in Group 3 is followed 6 companies and Group 4 is followed by 4 companies. Totally, there are 24 companies join 2016 Astra Award.
