Improving the Quality of Early Childhood Education, Astra Renovates PAUD Kasih Bunda Building

JAKARTA: To support the government in improving the quality of early childhood education in Indonesia, Astra helped to renovate the Kasih Bunda preschool (PAUD) building in Tangerang. Astra will also provide coaching activities for the PAUD, which is part of Astra’s sustainable social contribution program in education, namely Senyum Sahabat PAUD Astra (Senyum SAPA).

The inauguration of the PAUD building renovation on (10/6) resulted from the collaboration between the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, Astra, and other private companies.

Also present at the face-to-face inauguration were Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia Setya Utama representing the Minister of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, Directorate General of Early Childhood Education of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Nia Nurhasanah, Chief of Corporate Affairs Astra Riza Deliansyah, Chair of the Advisory Board of PAUD Kasih Bunda Siti Faridah Pratikno, Chair of the State Secretariat Welfare Foundation Sari Harjanti, and staff.

“Astra realizes the importance of educating children at their golden age to improve children’s intelligence, and that to boost the development requires first-rate infrastructure. For that reason, Astra supported the building renovation of PAUD Kasih Bunda and provides coaching to improve the quality of education in Indonesia,” said Chief of Corporate Affairs Astra, Riza Deliansyah.

The building renovation of PAUD Kasih Bunda started in October 2020. The building accommodates 35 students.

Senyum SAPA

Astra encourages PAUD Kasih Bunda to participate in the Astra-initiated Senyum SAPA program. PAUD Kasih Bunda will need to conduct a self-assessment before joining in a series of PAUD coaching activities that start from the initial stage to advanced.

Senyum SAPA is a coaching program for PAUD, designed to measure the quality of Astra’s foster PAUDs and develop assessment criteria that prioritize eight main pillars: institutional management, learning management, facilities and infrastructure, teacher competence level, child developmental stage, partnership and participation, student health and safety, and achievements.

This year, Astra has conducted assessments on 711 out of a total of 943 PAUDs across 34 provinces through the Senyum SAPA program.

Since 2015, Astra has also included the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the fourth goal—ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all—in creating its sustainable social contribution programs for the education pillar.

It is to ensure the programs are in line with the SDGs and Astra’s mission to Prosper with the Nation.
