Green Act of Astra Green Village Cidadap Supports Stone Garden Geo Park Conservation

PADALARANG: Astra holds various environmentally friendly activities at Astra Green Village Cidadap, in Padalarang, West Java, today (22/11) to support preservation of the ecotourism destination Stone Garden Geo Park.

Astra Green Village is one of the main programs of Astra sustainable social contribution. At Astra Green Village Cidadap, there are various environmental preservation activities such as plant nursery, compost making, biogas, hydroponic crop management, waste bank (bank sampah), and mini gallery as the Small Medium Enterprise (SME) providing local handicraft products. On today’s green act, Astra also plants 600 tamarind tree seeds at Stone Garden Geo Park conservation area.

Starting from the development of Stone Garden Geo Park, in 2017 Astra continued its development to Astra Green Village Cidadap.

“Astra contributes in keeping and improving the quality of living environment. Through various environmental activities, Astra has planted more than 5 million trees in numerous areas in Indonesia. This is in line with Astra’s aim to prosper with the nation,” said Chief of Corporate Affairs Astra Pongki Pamungkas.

Astra Green Village Cidadap activity that is initiated by Astra Group is a real form of Astra contribution in environmental field due to the damaged environment around the area of Astra Green Village Cidadap is harmful to the society.

Deden Syarif Hidayat, who is the leader of Karst Citatah Caring Forum (FP2KC), takes the liberty to fix the environment in his surroundings by developing a conservation-based village that can give a new alternative of livelihood to the people.

The man who is more well-known as Kang Deden inspires the youngsters around him to restore the environment and open a new source of living. This is in line with the local regional government’s policies which are to preserve karst Citatah, to build the society awareness, to develop the region potential such as using the local natural resources without damaging the environment.

Environmental activity at Astra Green Village Cidadap includes management of organic waste (liquid, solid, and gas composter) and non-organic waste (waste bank, handicraft products from waste material), integrated crop cultivation (hydroponic, nursery, aquaponic, family medicinal plant and fruit plant in pot), green movement, and food security at House Yard (green house) and colored (trees, crop, and vegetables plantation, Pranaraksa Astra).

In education, Astra Green Village Cidadap fosters posyandu, encourages early childhood education programs and elementary schools about environment, health, and cultural art. In health, Astra Green Village Cidadap also helps providing clean water for greening activity and household necessities, especially in dry season (drilled wells).

In entrepreneurship, Astra holds community empowerment activity in the field of environmentally friendly and innovative home business.

The purpose of education at Astra Green Village Cidadap is to set an example as well as to continually foster the people, so that they have an environmentally friendly mindset and trait, and also have the ability to maximize their local potential into something with economic value and sustainable education. The purpose is to spread this program to other villages and to set this area visitable as a learning vehicle for other stakeholders.
