Collaboration of 645 Astra Prosperous Villages in 34 Provinces

Today (25/6) PT Astra International Tbk together with the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) sign a memorandum of understanding in regards to further development of the new 275 Astra Prosperous Villages (Desa Sejahtera Astra), resulting in the extent of the villages in 34 provinces across Indonesia.

Participating in building those 275 villages, Astra also signs a collaboration agreement to help the progress of these additional villages together with 51 districts, 9 universities, 9 digital start-up companies, 8 communities, and 7 Islamic boarding schools.

With the addition of 275 Astra Prosperous Villages to be developed, later Astra will aid the development of 645 villages in total, all over 125 districts/cities in 34 provinces.

The signing ceremony is held in Astra Group Communication Forum of Environment, Health & Safety and Corporate Social Responsibility (EHS & CSR).

Indonesia Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Eko Putro Sandjojo accompanied by Chief of Corporate Affairs Astra Pongki Pamungkas and Deputy Chief of Corporate Affairs Astra Riza Deliansyah witness the agreement signing.

"The concept of Astra Prosperous Village can inspire all parties for it is not about financial support, but more on guidance and market supply," said Village Minister Eko Putro after the agreement signing session in Menara Astra.

This communication forum is expected to be a guiding system and inspiration for Astra in composing its EHS and CSR programs based on sustainable development goals, also known as SDGs.

SDGs consist of 17 goals with 169 measured and timed targets established by the United Nations (UN) as a global development agenda for the well-being of humans and Earth.

Inspirational Talk

To gain further explanation on SDGs, a session of inspiration talk is held and presented by the Director of Business Institute and Democratic Economics Tri Mumpuni discussing the 11th point: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Urban Farming Activist Soraya Cassandra discussing the 2nd point: Zero Hunger, and Renewable Energy Practitioner who is also Chairman of Indonesia Solar Energy Association Expert Council Nur Pamudji discussing the 7th point: Affordable and Clean Energy.

As of now, Astra is fostering 370 Astra Prosperous Villages and 81 Astra Green Villages (Kampung Berseri Astra) 34 provinces all over Indonesia. Astra Prosperous Village focuses on empowering entrepreneurship at the village level in accordance with the local potential, while Astra Green Village focuses on four pillars of Astra’s sustainable social contribution: Health, Education, Entrepreneurship, and Environment.

Astra's passion in developing the society starting from the village level is in line with Astra’s aim to prosper with the nation.
