SEMARANG: President Director of PT Astra International Tbk Prijono Sugiarto together with the executives of Astra Group visited the office of Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo to pay a courtesy call and introduce Astra Group’s activities in the province. In the occasion, Astra’s President Director also made a visit to Semarang – Solo toll road construction project and launched Lembaga Pengembangan Bisnis (LPB, translated in English as Business Development Institution) of Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation (YDBA) that becomes Astra’s social contribution.
Astra International through its subsidiaries in Infrastructure and Logistic, PT Astratel Nusantara has 25% shares in PT Trans Marga Jateng (TMJ) as the owner of Semarang – Solo toll road, which is along 73 km and divided into 5 sections. Section I and II (along 23 Km) have already been operated, with route Semarang – Ungaran – Bawen. Meanwhile, section III from Bawen to Salatiga along 17.6 km is currently under construction and would have initial operation in 2016’s Eid al-Fitr holiday and full operation by the end of the year. The total investment for the project reaches IDR 7.3 trillion.
Besides TMJ, to support Trans Jawa Toll Toad project, Astra Group also has shares in three toll road management companies as follows:
Overall, Astra Group owns 197.2 km toll road through four companies.
In Accordance to Governor’s Suggestion
In the same occasion, President Director of Astra launched LPB that established by YDBA, one of the nine Astra’s foundations that work on SMEs empowerment. The 14th LBD is located in UMKM Center Central Java as a realization of Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo. With abundance natural resources and human resources, local government of Central Java entrusted YDBA to develop the economic potentials to establish independent society.
The launch of LPB Semarang was marked by ribbon cutting ceremony by Astra’s President Director who was also the Steering Chairman of YDBA Prijono Sugiarto, Executive Chair of YDBA F.X. Sri Martono, Director of Astra and YDBA’s Steering Bambang Widjanarko Santoso, Chief of Corporate Communications, Social Responsibility & Security of Astra Pongki Pamungkas and Coordinator Head of Astra Group Semarang Sony Widjaja.
In the launching event, Prijono Sugiarto and team visited training room and was able to see ongoing Basic Mentality Training and 5R Training (Ringkas, Rapi, Resik, Rawat dan Rajin / translated in English as Practical, Neat, Clean, Care and Diligent).
As a start, YDBA will focus in coaching SMEs that specialized in common water hyacinth as well as SME that specialized in metal and machinery. The consideration was based on YDBA’s experiences in coaching SMEs water hyacinth based project in Seilating, Tapin Region, South Kalimantan and SMEs metal industry based project in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek), Sukabumi, Tegal and Sidoarjo.
Executive Chair of YDBA F.X. Sri Martono said that the purposes of establishing LPB Semarang is to deeply dig economic potential that would become superior sector as a way to establish Independent Village. Sri Martono also wished that YDBA would give coaching program that suitable to the needs and conditions of local people and the vision to Government of Central Java.
Along its 36 year of progress, YDBA has delivered coaching programs to 9.182 SMEs. For dropout youths, YDBA trained 588 people to become mechanics and provided 61,385 job opportunities through SMEs that had been facilitated by YDBA.
