Astra Runners Held Charity Run on 3rd Anniversary

JAKARTA - Reaching the age of 3 years old, Astra Runners Community (ARC) held a Charity Run themed We Run, We Care, We Share in the headquarter of Permata Bank, WTC II, Sudirman on Sunday (13/11).

ARC is a community for runners formed on November 9, 2013, consisted of Astra Group employees with the same hobby, running. In its third year, more than 1,000 members and participants attended the Charity Run.

Charity Run is a combination of two event concepts, which are healthy lifestyle and sharing for people. Healthy lifestyle activities are divided into two categories, namely Fun Walk and Run, followed by donation activity.

"ARC is a place for all Astra’s employees to do running activity together, build togetherness, and develop healthy lifestyle inside Astra’s big family. I hope ARC a continuous success," said President Director of PT Bank Permata Tbk Roy Arfandy which also is one of five coaches of ARC.

The four other coaches are Finance Director of PT United Tractors Tbk Iwan Hadiantoro, Marketing Director of PT Federal International Finance Djap Tet Fa, Finance Director of PT Marga Mandalasakti Halim Wahjana, and Head of Public Relations of PT Astra International Tbk Yulian Warman.

Rp 140 Million Donation

ARC routinely conducts run activities every month on Saturday or Sunday, popularly called Astra Saturday / Sunday Run (ASR).

In addition to ASR, the ARC members also often join both the local race such as Jakarta Marathon and Bali Marathon, and also overseas events such as Tokyo Marathon, Berlin Marathon, and Standard Chartered Marathon in Singapore & Kuala Lumpur.

ARC holds the Charity Run: We Run, We Care, We Share annually as the community anniversary celebration. The event was attended not only by the employees of Astra Group, both ARC members and non-members.

On the first anniversary celebration, 300 runners participated in the 5K and 10K run categories at the headquarter of PermataBank, WTC II, Sudirman. At the same time, ARC donated Rp 30 million to Three Little Angels Foundation in which the fund is partly derived from the run registration fees.

The second year, similar activities were held at the PermataBank, Bintaro, Tangerang, followed by 600 runners in the 5K and 10K categories. Again, ARC donated Rp 44 million to Yayasan Sayap Ibu.

In the third year, the Charity Run was attended by 1,000 participants divided into categories of 3K Fun Walk and 6K Run. This time, a donation of Rp 66 million, which was also partly derived from participant registration fees, was donated to Yayasan Taman Bacaan Pelangi. In three consecutive years, total donations given by ARC reached Rp 140 million. Runners who participated in the events are protected as well by the insurance brought by Astra Life.

The third birthday celebration was also attended by employees from more than 50 Astra Group companies. Not only that, the participants also came from various levels of backgrounds, from staff to directors, even the board of directors of PT Astra International Tbk, like Suparno Djasmin and Gidion Hasan, were scheduled to attend.

Astra 60 Years of Inspiration

Throughout its journey since 1957, Astra continues to dedicate its works to the advancement of Indonesia, in line with the company philosophy written in Catur Dharma.

Through the theme of Charity Run: We Run, We Care, We Share, this activity is expected to provide benefits to the community.

According to the principle, in wherever Astra’s installation is, it must provide benefits to the surrounding environment, in accordance with the first philosophy of Catur Dharma Astra, “to be the beneficial Asset to the Nation”.
