
JAKARTA: Astra, through Nurani Astra, donated 375 oxygen cylinders and supported the establishment of an oxygen center, Rumah Oksigen Gotong Royong, to help address the surging demand for oxygen from hospitals and COVID-19 patients.
The 375 oxygen cylinders were handed over to Jakarta Provincial Health Office and hospitals in Jakarta, Depok, Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang, and Bandung to help treat COVID-19 patients. Meanwhile, Rumah Oksigen Gotong Royong is a semi-permanent health facility equipped with oxygen equipment and treatment beds initiated by GoTo Group through its foundation, Yayasan Anak Bangsa Bisa, together with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Samator Group.
Astra also donated 500 units of oxygen concentrators to the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia today (20/8). The donation will be handed over to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia to be distributed through its Center for Health Crisis and regional governments such as Lampung, South Kalimantan, East Java, and Solo. Distribution to other regions in Indonesia will follow.
Director of Astra, Gita Tiffani Boer, accompanied by President Director of PT Tjahja Sakti Motor, Anton Kumonty, and Astra’s Chief of Corporate Affairs, Riza Deliansyah, symbolically handed over the assistance to the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita during the virtual Handover of COVID-19 Assistance from Industrial Companies today (20/8).
“Amid the recent surge in demand for oxygen from hospitals and communities in Indonesia, Astra Group is always present and actively supports the government, health workers, and the community. We can overcome and get through this difficult time together,” said President Director of Astra, Djony Bunarto Tjondro.
The oxygen donation is the ninth phase of Astra Group’s COVID-19 assistance. In the first phase to the eighth phase of aid, from March 2020 to August 2021, Astra collaborated with other institutions, such as the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the National Disaster Management Agency, the Indonesian Red Cross, and central and regional general hospitals. Astra also delivered aid directly to the surrounding communities.
The aid was in the form of vehicles, ambulance units, medical equipment for intensive care and high care units such as ventilators and multi-slice computed tomography scans, test kits, personal protective equipment, masks, ventilators, and meal or staple food packages.
