
JAKARTA: Today (23/3), Astra and Astra Group companies delivered various items as part of the first phase donation worth a total of Rp63 billion to help the government and the Indonesian people prevent the spread of COVID-19. The donation echoed Astra’s spirit to contribute to the nation.
Channeled through Nurani Astra, the donation consisted of test kits, protective equipment, hand sanitizers, and disinfectants, as well as 100 units of Daihatsu Gran Max units and 10 trucks (5 units of Toyota Dyna and 5 units of Isuzu Elf NMR71) to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to be used as disinfecting vehicles.
To distribute the donation, Astra partnered with the Ministry of Health, National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Indonesian Association of Pulmonologist (PDPI), medical laboratories and state-owned referral hospitals. Funds channeled through these institutions amounted to Rp5.5 billion.
Moreover, Astra channeled Rp40 billion through a foundation that help pools and manages donations from Indonesian corporations. Astra also collaborated with different companies to procure COVID-19 test kits.
"We hope that every element in the society will unite in the face of this situation. This initial stage of aid is our contribution in helping to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and we do hope that what we can ease the burden of the government and the society," said President Director Astra Prijono Sugiarto.
Astra's support for the government in preventing the spread of COVID-19 is aligned with Astra's pillar of continuing social contribution and the mission to prosper with the nation.
