Astra Celebrates Indonesia’s 75th Independence Day in a Special Flag-Raising Ceremony

JAKARTA: Celebrating Indonesia’s 75^th Independence Day, today (17/8) Astra held a flag-raising ceremony that appeared unique to previous events.

From last year’s festive and traditional costumes worn by all employees in Menara Astra, this year’s ceremony seemed modest with limited number of participants and health protocols in place.

President Director Astra Djony Bunarto Tjondro led the ceremony as the inspector. Both he and all ceremony officers in duty wore masks and face shields, with a physical distancing rule of 1.5 to 2 meters distance between persons strictly applied.

The ceremony was also streamed live for Astra employees to attend virtually from home.

“Despite the situation we are in, we still have the opportunity to celebrate and honor Indonesia’s Independence Day. This ceremony is Astra’s annual event that we see as a momentum to remind ourselves of who we are as a nation and motivate us to work hard for Indonesia,” said Chief of Corporate Affairs Astra Riza Deliansyah.

Today’s ceremony was also part of the series of activities that Astra held and promoted on its SATU Indonesia social media platforms using hashtag #SemangatMajukanIndonesia (Advancing Indonesia).

Under the #SemangatMajukanIndonesia campaign, Astra organized virtual Independence Day-themed games with nine public figures in collaboration with Astra YouTubers and a virtual music concert that featured Erwin Gutawa Orchestra and Erwin Gutawa Music School choir last night.

Astra’s dedication to celebrate the 75^th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia is aligned with Astra’s mission to Prosper with the Nation.
