Appreciation for the Beautiful Diversity of Indonesian Villages in the 2018 Astra Photo Competition and Astra Journalism Awards

JAKARTA: PT Astra International Tbk today (1/3) gives appreciation to the winners of the 2018 Astra Photo Competition (Lomba Foto Astra/LFA) and Astra Journalism Awards (Anugerah Pewarta Astra/APA) with a theme of “The Spirit of Indonesian Villages” (Semangat Kampung Indonesia).

The competitions held since September 10th to December 31st, 2018, aimed to encourage the people in expressing the spirit found in Indonesian villages, including in Astra Green Villages.

Through the 10th photo competition, Astra invited public and photo journalists to capture the beautiful diversity from various villages in Indonesia, from the perspective of their people, the magnificence of the environment, as well as the diverse culture that has its own characteristics.

In the 4th writing competition, Astra invited all participants to dig inspirational stories of the 78 Astra Green Villages all over 34 provinces in Indonesia into pieces of writing that inspire the nation.

Chief of Corporate Affairs of PT Astra International Tbk Pongki Pamungkas expresses his gratitude for the growing enthusiasm from the participants. “We welcome the 40% increase of participants in LFA and 93% in APA compared to last year. It means that the enthusiasm from the people to spread the spirit of Indonesian villages is tremendously high,” said Pongki Pamungkas.

Joined by 23,718 participants in LFA and 971 participants in APA, these competitions have gathered a total of 19,570 photos and 514 articles.

All masterpieces have been judges by a panel of judges who master their respective fields. The judges of the 2018 LFA consist of the Editor of Antara Foto Hermanus Prihatna, a national photographer Don Hasman, and the Chairman of Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra (YDBA) Henry C. Widjaja.

The judges of the 2018 APA are the Editor in Chief of Kontan Daily Ardian Taufik Gessuri, Vice Content Director of Detik.com, and a national writer Windy Ariestanty.

Based on a long selection process and judging, the judges have finally decided on 20 winners of LFA and 20 winners of APA in the categories of journalists and public (see list of winners on www.satu-indonesia.com). These forty winners are eligible for these prizes:

  • 1st Winners: 4 Astra Daihatsu Ayla Type M AT
  • 2nd Winners: 4 Honda CRF 150 L
  • 3rd Winners: 4 Honda Beat Sporty CW
  • Contender Winners: 8 Canon EOS 3000D
  • Favourite Winners: 20 Casio G-Shock
