30 Winners of 2015 Astra Photography Competition

JAKARTA: 2015 Astra Photography Competition (Lomba Foto Astra / LFA) has finished and Board of Judges has decided 30 winners for Journalist and Public Categories.

The three winners in Journalist Category are Binsar Bakkara from Associated Press, Ferdy Siregar from Harian Analisa and Agung Rajasa from Antara. Binsar Bakkara from Associated Press with The Universe photo that took place in Karo, North Sumatra (1^st Winner). “ That night I intended to record the activity of Sinabung Mountain along with its beauty. The universe was really supporting, bright sky, stars, and Milky Way are clearly seen. Sinabung Mountain seemed to stand on the same side by throwing away its ashes to another direction that won’t block the sight,” said Binsar who received Honda Vario 150 eSp Exclusive prize.

Moreover, Ferdy Siregar from Harian Analisa with photo of Salt Field in Makassar (2^nd Winner) received Apple Macbook Air 13” and Agung Rajasa from Antara with photo of Sungai Berkelok Timika (Winding River of Timika) took home GoPro Hero4 Silver prize.

The Public Category winners are Sandy Wijaya with Curug Cigangsa (Cigangsa Waterfall) picture located in Sukabumi (1^st Winner) who received Honda Vario 150 eSP Exclusive prize, Aris Sanjaya Lim with Sunset di Papuma Beach (Sunset in Papuma Beach) located in Jember (2^nd Winner) who received Apple Macbook Air 13” prize and Andreas Iman Sugiarto with photo of Malam in Batu Layar (Night in Batu Layar) located in Lampung (3^rd Winner) who took home GoPro Hero4 Silver prize. Besides the three public winners, two runner up winners in each category received @ 1 Parrot Drone 2.0 prize and 10 favorite winners received @1 Nikon Coolpix AW120 prize.

The runner up winners in Journalist Category is Aditia Noviansyah from Tempo with Jam Betong (Big Clock) picture in Tenggarong, East Kalimantan and Adi Wiratmo from Nyata with picture Kabut Bromo (Bromo’s Fog) located in Bromo. Moreover, the runner up winners in Public Category is Bambang Wirawan with Terasiring (Paddy Terrace Field) image located in Magelang and Fajar Kristianto with Kijang (Deer) picture located in Bogor.

The favorite winner in Journalist Category is Ali Masduki from Koran Sindo with the image of Pulau Kambing (Goat Island) located in Madura, Budi Sugiharto from Detik.com with the picture of Penambang Belerang di Ijen Crater (Sulphur Miner in Ijen Crater) located in Banyuwangi, Albert Damanik from Harian Sumut 24 with the photo of Yang Tersisa di Lereng Sinabung (What Left in Sinabung’s Slope) located in Karo, North Sumatra, Gathot Subroto from Housing Estate with image of Raja Ampat located in Raja Ampat, Azwar from Acehbaru.com with the picture of Masjid Islamic Center Lhokseumawe (Islamic Center Mosque in Lhokseumawe) located in Lhokseumawe.

Besides, Sofian Hadi from Radar Kedu with Morning Show photo in Temanggung, Central Java, Dodi Sandradi from Travel Fotografi with picture of Wayag Island in Raja Ampat, Sofyan Efendi from Area Magazine with a picture of Suku Anak Sawai (Anak Sawai Tribe) located in Maluku, Ari Bowo Sucipto from Antara with Silence photo located in Probolinggo and Hasiholan Siahaan from Koran Sindo with Wonderful Bromo picture located in Bromo.

Furthermore, the favorite winners in Public Category is Lie Fie Sian with the image of Nuansa Biru (Blue Nuance) located in Bandung, Eddie Cheever with Curve of Bromo picture located in Bromo, Fakri Anindita with the image of Hijau Alami Curug Macan (Natural Green of Macan Waterfall) located in Halimun Salak Mountain, Astriviani Switania with picture of Indonesia’s Beautiful Coral Reef located in Raja Ampat, Herry Budiansyah with picture of Hidup Segan Mati Tak Mau (Unwilling to Live Yet Refuse to Die) located in Riau Archipelago, Buyung Sukananda with photo of Wit Nganten (Bride and Groom’s Tree) located in Salatiga, Moh. Ahsanol Arifin with photo of Blessed by the Light located in Bromo, Adhi Prayoga with picture of Menjaring Bersama (Net Fishing Together) located in Toraja, South Sulawesi and Habib farindra with image of Hidup di Indonesia (Living in Indonesia) located in Purwakarta.

Improved Quality

According to professional photographer Reynold Sumayku, one of the members of LFA Grand Judges, selected photos that announced as the winners have unique point of locations and angles. “Since I have been the judge of photo competition, the quality of LFA’s pictures is very excellent and special.”

Another judge, Agus Susanto from Harian Kompas said: “We never thought that the location of that photo [the 1^st winner of Public Category] is in Indonesia. That’s how beautiful Indonesia,”

2015 LFA with theme: Jelajah Pesona Indonesia (Explore the Beauty of Indonesia) is the 7^th LFA held by PT Astra International Tbk. The competition has successfully received 33.811 photos from 12.009 participants in Public Category and 1.811 photos from 552 participants in Journalist Category across Indonesia. The total participant increased as 38% compared to the previous year, which was only 9.058 participants.
