JAKARTA: The Chairperson of the Indonesian Professional Photographers Association, Ridha Kusumabrata (third from left), Indonesian author Reda Gaudiamo (second from left), along with the First Place Winners of the Astra Photo Competition and Astra Journalist Awards 2024 in the General and Journalist Categories, shared their inspiration on photography and writing during the inspirational talk at the Awarding Ceremony of the Astra Photo Competition and Astra Journalist Awards 2024 at Menara Astra, Jakarta (16/1).
Astra has consistently organized the Lomba Foto Astra since 2009 and the Anugerah Pewarta Astra since 2015. The 2024 competitions received 16,112 photo entries, surpassing the previous year’s count of 15,699, and 3,256 written works, an increase from 3,113 in 2023.
“We extend our highest appreciation to all participants for their extraordinary enthusiasm. It is our hope that these photographic and written works will inspire the younger generation to work collaboratively and sustainably, contributing positively to Indonesia’s present and future,” said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Riza Deliansyah.
A total of 84 winners were selected across both the general and journalist categories. The prizes awarded were as follows:
The winning entries were curated and evaluated by an expert panel of judges, including Chairperson of the Indonesian Chief Editors Forum (Forum Pemred) and SCTV & Indosiar Editor-in-Chief Retno Pinasti, KG Media Vice President Sustainability Wisnu Nugroho, Chairperson of the Indonesian Photography Professionals Association (APFI) Ridha Kusumabrata, Indonesian Author Reda Gaudiamo, Chairperson of the Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation Rahmat Samulo, and Chairperson of the Michael D. Ruslim Astra Education Foundation Gunawan Salim.
The awards ceremony also featured an inspirational talk session with representatives from the panel of judges, including Ridha Kusumabrata and Reda Gaudiamo, as well as several competition winners.
The public is invited to view the showcased works of the winners at the Galeri Astra, Menara Astra, from January 16 to 24, 2024.
For the 2024 competitions, Astra once again partnered with the Indonesian Photojournalist Association (PFI) and Ayofoto to disseminate information related to the competitions.
