Maluku: With a three-kilometer stretch of white sand beneath them, tourists at Ngurbloat Beach in Ngilngof Village, Southeast Maluku, enjoy the shimmering sunlight, orange-tinted skies, and the hospitality of the local residents. Ngilngof Village is a Kampung Berseri Astra village in Maluku, recognized for its efforts in developing community-based tourism that highlights the arts and culture of the local people.

Beyond Ngurbloat Beach, Kampung Berseri Astra Ngilngof boasts other tourist attractions, including mangrove cultivation at Yoanora Beach, marine educational tourism at Hoat Hawet Bay, and the natural beauty of Ablel Lake and Ohoiew Island.

“Astra is committed to continuously contributing to community development, such as through the Kampung Berseri Astra program. The development efforts are aimed at harnessing regional potential to drive positive changes and progress for today and the future of Indonesia,” said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Riza Deliansyah.

The development of Kampung Berseri Astra Ngilngof began in 2022, focusing on health, education, entrepreneurship, and the environment to create a clean, healthy, smart, and productive community. As the local economy primarily relies on tourism and fisheries, initiatives include coral reef preservation, seagrass and mangrove cultivation to combat coastal erosion, and the creation of eco-tourism packages.

Thanks to these efforts, Kampung Berseri Astra Ngilngof welcomed 126,521 tourists throughout 2023, generating approximately Rp625 million in revenue.

Recognizing the appeal of Kampung Berseri Astra Ngilngof, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy awarded the village first place in Digital Tourism Promotion at the 2023 Anugerah Pesona Indonesia event. The village also received the ASEAN Homestay Awards 2023–2025 and won first place in the 2021 Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia in the Tourism Village category.

In 2022, the Indonesian World Records Museum named Ngurbloat Beach the world’s softest white sand beach.

To ensure the continued success of its tourism sector, Kampung Berseri Astra Ngilngof collaborates with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to host Fiesta Kei Island, also known as Ngilngof Fiesta, an annual event aimed at promoting local tourism and culture.

Through this event, Kampung Berseri Astra Ngilngof showcases local tourism and culture while fostering economic development and improving the welfare of the community, driven by a spirit of gotong royong, or cooperation.

This year’s Ngilngof Fiesta also saw the inauguration of assistance for the construction of two watchtowers, a security post, and solar panels and the training and mentoring for the 4 Pillars Program and the Safe and Resilient Program, all aimed at supporting tourism in Kampung Berseri Astra Ngilngof.

Astra consistently supports the improvement of village community welfare in Indonesia through Kampung Berseri Astra, in line with Astra’s mission to prosper with the nation while supporting Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
