










JAKARTA: Astra announced 84 winners of the 2023 Astra Photo Competition and Astra Journalism Award in the general and journalist categories today (1/22) at Menara Astra, Jakarta. The winning entries, consisting of photos and written works, were themed “Spirit for Today and the Future of Indonesia”.
Astra has consistently held the Astra Photo Competition since 2009 and the Astra Journalism Award since 2015. In 2023, the number of participants soared to 7,545, marking a 144% increase from the previous year. The number of photo entries increased by 59% to 15,920, and the number of written works increased by 223% to 3,258 compared to 2022.
“We appreciate participants’ enthusiasm in the 2023 Astra Photo Competition and Astra Journalism Award. The over 19,000 entries reflect the diversity of stories and inspiration in advancing the nation for Indonesia’s present and future. We hope that all the participants’ works can inspire other young people to contribute to the nation,” said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Riza Deliansyah.
After a series of judging, 84 winners of the 2023 Astra Photo Competition and Astra Journalism Award across both the general and journalist categories were selected. The winners from each category received the following prizes:
The winning entries of the 2023 Astra Photo Competition and Astra Journalism Award were curated and judged by a panel of experts, including PR Indonesia Editor-in-Chief Asmono Wikan, Agence France-Presse (AFP) Photojournalist Adek Berry, Photographer I Wayan Wahyu Mahendranata, Writer Erisca Febriani, Astra Property Head of Corporate Communications Demmy Indranugroho, and Astra Daihatsu Motor Corporate Communications Department Head Indra Setiawan.
The awarding ceremony of the 2023 Astra Photo Competition and Astra Journalism Award was opened today with an inspirational talk session with I Wayan Wahyu Mahendranata and Erisca Febriani, representatives of the jury. They agreed that the photo and article entries gave a positive impression in capturing the community’s efforts for a better Indonesia.
As part of the awarding ceremony, the public can view the showcase of the winners’ works at Galeri Astra, Menara Astra, from January 22 to January 26, 2024.
This year, Astra partnered with Pewarta Foto Indonesia, Young on Top, and Ayofoto in search of photography and writing enthusiasts across the country.
