In the Spirit of Youth Pledge Day, the 15th SATU Indonesia Awards 2024 Honors Five Inspiring Young People
JAKARTA: In commemoration of Youth Pledge Day, a pivotal moment in Indonesia’s struggle for independence, Astra honored five inspiring young Indonesians at the award ceremony of the 15th SATU Indonesia Awards 2024 today (October 29) for their contributions towards sustainable living in the five fields of health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, and technology.
The awards were personally presented by Astra’s President Director, Djony Bunarto Tjondro, to the five recipients. The event was also attended by Astra’s Board of Directors and Executives, SATU Indonesia Awards judges, and past award recipients from 2010 to 2023.
“Since the beginning, Indonesia’s youth have played a crucial role in the nation’s progress. For 15 years, Astra has honored Indonesian youth who are committed to contributing to their communities and environment. Let us continue to spread inspiration and create sustainable solutions for today and the future of Indonesia,” said Astra President Director Djony Bunarto Tjondro in his speech.
The recipients of the 15th SATU Indonesia Awards 2024 are:
1. Health Category, Ayu Fauziyyah Adhimah “Creator of a Nutrition Education Platform” from Yogyakarta Special Region Province:
Gizipedia Indonesia is a platform focused on nutrition and health. It is managed by a team of registered dietitians and nutritionists who hold a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, have completed a professional dietitian program, and are members of the Indonesian Nutritionists Association (PERSAGI).
Established in September 2019 by Ayu Fauziyyah and Yusrina Husnul, with Salsabila Fasya joining in 2023, the foundation of Gizipedia Indonesia stems from the founders’ concern about the lack of a dedicated space for nutrition professionals, nutrition students, and the public to engage in discussion and access reliable nutrition information.
Gizipedia seeks to expand its impact and collaborate across sectors to improve community nutritional standards and develop an application that features nutritional calculation tools to assist nutrition professionals in their work.
2. Education Category, Hana Maulida “Advocate for Child Protection from Sexual Violence” from Banten Province:
Kakak Aman Indonesia is an initiative aimed at educating children in kindergarten and elementary school on how to protect themselves from sexual violence. This movement was founded by Hana Maulida and her colleagues, driven by their concern about the increasing incidents of child sexual abuse.
Motivated by this concern, Hana Maulida, along with two friends, launched Kakak Aman Indonesia in January 2023. The initiative provides age-appropriate education on sexuality and sexual abuse through modules designed for young children.
3. Environment Category, Kevin Gani “Champion of Sustainable Food” from East Java Province:
Garda Pangan, founded by Kevin Gani in 2017, is a social enterprise addressing food waste and food access equality in Surabaya. Garda Pangan collects surplus food that is still fit for consumption from restaurants and hotels and distributes it to underprivileged communities. Since its inception, Garda Pangan has distributed more than 577,000 meals to nearly 28,000 beneficiaries.
Additionally, Garda Pangan converts inedible food waste into animal feed using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) bioconversion technology, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 533,900 kg. Garda Pangan is committed to reducing food loss and waste and raising public awareness about the importance of food waste management.
4. Entrepreneurship Category, Yuyun Ahdiyanti “Heroine Weaver of Hope from Ntobo Village” from West Nusa Tenggara Province:
UKM Dina is a Bima weaving business founded by Yuyun Ahdiyanti in 2015. As a native of Ntobo, Yuyun was troubled by her village’s lack of recognition as a Weaving Village despite most of its residents being weavers.
The issue stemmed from the weavers’ limited access to capital and markets. After posting images of her family’s woven fabrics on her social media, Yuyun was flooded with orders. She expanded her business by providing capital to local weavers and helping them market their woven products.
This assurance regarding capital and marketing has encouraged many weavers to trust UKM Dina with their products. In addition to positively impacting the local community, UKM Dina has successfully boosted the local economy by empowering over 200 weavers and 15 seamstresses.
5. Technology Category, Irfan Y. Pratama “Navigator of Long-Distance Networks” from DKI Jakarta Province:
Awanio is a Cloud Enabler Platform (CEP), a program that allows individuals to manage cloud space created when a server connects to the internet. This space can be self-owned if the server is self-managed or rented from cloud service providers. Historically, cloud service providers have been dominated by global entities, meaning their servers are not physically located in Indonesia.
According to Irfan Y. Pratama, CEO of Awanio, the CEP launched in 2021 is entirely developed by local talent. It aims to help local cloud service providers and companies manage their servers within Indonesian jurisdiction, addressing data sovereignty issues.
This setup allows businesses and government institutions to have full control over the integrity and confidentiality of their data. Additionally, managing cloud services and servers domestically leads to a significant reduction in operational costs.
The 15th SATU Indonesia Awards 2024 recipients will receive activity grants of Rp65 million and assistance, which can be integrated with Astra’s sustainable social contribution programs, such as Kampung Berseri Astra and Desa Sejahtera Astra.
This year, the number of SATU Indonesia Awards applicants increased by 11.8% from the previous year, totaling 16,775 applicants.
