The signing of a multi-party joint commitment in efforts to save the Puncak area and develop a sustainable Agroforestry Learning Center, which is one of a series of coffee product export initiation events in Sejahtera Astra Tugu Utara Village, Bogor, West Java on Wednesday (June 18).
CISARUA, BOGOR: Astra‘s commitment to building a competitive, self-sustaining, and export-ready community-based economic ecosystem has once again been demonstrated through the signing of an export contract on Wednesday, June 18. The agreement marks the first-phase coffee purchase totaling one ton between the Forest Farmers Group of Desa Sejahtera Astra Tugu Utara in Bogor, West Java, and a trading partner in Algeria. The signing ceremony was also accompanied by a ceremonial coffee harvest celebration.
The event was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Forestry Mahfudz M.P.; Rector of IPB University Arif Satria; Deputy Head of the West Java and Banten Regional Division of Perhutani Cucu Suparman; Head of Bogor Regency’s Office of Food Crops, Horticulture, and Plantations Entis Sutisna; Astra’s Head of Environment & Social Responsibility Diah Suran Febrianti; and representatives from Desa Sejahtera Astra Tugu Utara.
This export initiation is the result of collaborative efforts between Astra; the Indonesian Coffee Exporters Association (AEKI – Jakarta Chapter); the Bogor Regency Food Crops, Horticulture, and Plantations Office; and local forest community organizations including the Cikoneng and Rawagede Forest Farmers Groups. The signature product, Arabica coffee, is cultivated within social forestry areas that integrate community-based entrepreneurial development and environmental conservation.
Previously, coffee from Desa Sejahtera Astra Tugu Utara had entered the Taiwanese market. Since 2022, Astra has provided consistent support through training in coffee cherry processing, provision of production infrastructure such as greenhouses and pulper machines, as well as research and export marketing assistance.
“We appreciate Astra’s consistent commitment to village empowerment and community engagement in environmental preservation. This coffee export initiation is more than an agricultural milestone—it is the result of cross-sector collaboration that strengthens village-based economic ecosystems and social forestry,” said Mahfudz M.P.
“This initiative reflects Astra’s entrepreneurship pillar and our dedication to fostering community growth and transformation. Through the establishment of the Agroforestry Coffee Learning Center, we envision the Puncak area not only as a tourist destination, but also as an educational hub promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation,” Boy Kelana Soebroto said.
As part of the event, a multi-stakeholder commitment was also undertaken involving the Ministry of Forestry; IPB University; Astra; Perum Perhutani; the Bogor Regency Food Crops, Horticulture, and Plantations Office; and various partners, aiming to support the preservation of the Puncak region and the development of a sustainable agroforestry ecosystem.
Astra’s dedication to stimulating rural economic growth—both for today and the future of Indonesia—is in line with its mission to prosper with the nation while supporting Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
