PACITAN, EAST JAVA: Astra has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering rural economic independence through the export launch of organic arenga palm sugar from Desa Sejahtera Astra (DSA) Temon Pacitan. On Thursday, February 12, over 11 tons of commodities, valued at hundreds of millions of rupiah, were dispatched to Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Australia.

Initiated in 2025 in collaboration with Temon Agro Lestari, the DSA Temon Pacitan program engages 400 residents across five villages—Temon, Karanggede, Karangrejo, Gondang, and Ngreco. The initiative focuses on arenga palm-based economic development by enhancing production capacity, quality standards, and market access. The product range includes organic molded sugar, granulated sugar, liquid sugar, and mini cubes. Through continuous support—spanning training and mentorship, institutional strengthening, quality certification, infrastructure support, product exhibition, and business matching—the program has increased farmer incomes by 50–70%, with 100% of products being absorbed by local and global markets.

The export ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Yandri Susanto, alongside the Regent of Pacitan, Indrata Nur Bayuaji; Director General of Economic Development and Investment for Villages, Disadvantaged Regions at the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Tabrani; Director of Small and Medium Industries for Food, Furniture, and Building Materials at the Ministry of Industry, Afrizal Haris; Director of Market Development and Export Information (PPIE) at the Ministry of Trade, Bayu Wicaksono Putro; Assistant Deputy for Partnership and Supply Chain of Micro Enterprises at the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Pristiyanto; and Head of Environment & Social Responsibility at Astra, Diah Suran Febrianti. Also in attendance were DSA Pacitan Program facilitators, local champions, and local palm sap farmers.

“We appreciate Astra’s consistent commitment to supporting villages to scale their businesses and penetrate export markets. We hope this collaboration grows stronger and continues to foster rural economic independence and drive the progress of our nation,” stated Minister Yandri Susanto.

“This milestone marks a significant step for Astra in expanding the global reach of DSA village signature products. By providing consistent support, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and increasing product quality, we aim to create broader market opportunities and sustainable real economic benefits for the community, for today and the future of Indonesia,” said Chief of Corporate Affairs at Astra, Boy Kelana Soebroto.

To enhance product competitiveness, the program provides: pre-SNI (Indonesian National Standard) organic training, support for implementing the Organic Internal Control System (ICS), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) audits, and the revitalization of hygienic processing facilities to meet food quality and safety standards for export.

Breakdown of the export: 10 tons to Malaysia (valued at approximately Rp400 million), 1 ton / 5,000 units of 200g packaging to the Netherlands (valued at approximately Rp67.5 million), and 500 kg / 2,500 units of 200g mini cubes to Australia (valued at approximately Rp67.5 million).

Since its inception in 2018, Astra’s DSA program has reached 1,280 villages across 35 provinces. To date, 548 villages have successfully exported goods, totaling Rp411 billion between 2021 and 2025. Beyond this program, Astra has supported more than 19,000 MSMEs through its foundations and business groups.

Astra’s efforts to expand market access for village signature products and promote inclusive and sustainable community welfare align with Astra’s mission to Prosper with the Nation and its commitment to Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
