OSAKA, JAPAN: Reinforcing its commitment to supporting national progress through community empowerment and sustainability, Astra is presenting a curated selection of signature products from Desa Sejahtera Astra and the Astra Foundation - Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Inside the Indonesia Pavilion, designed in the shaped of a boat symbolizing the nation’s forward-moving spirit, Astra showcases products from its supported communities that represent Indonesia’s local potential. These include handicrafts and coffee commodities from Desa Sejahtera Astra and the Astra Foundation - Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation. One of the main attractions for visitors to the Indonesia Pavilion is the Mansiang woven products from West Sumatra, which are natural-material products showcasing Indonesia’s cultural wisdom.
The Mansiang woven crafts originate from Astra’s supported village, Desa Sejahtera Astra Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra. These handicrafts are made from Mansiang grass, a type of swamp grass that is processed into various eco-friendly items such as bags, wallets, and multipurpose containers. They highlight the local wisdom of the coastal community in West Sumatra, featuring modern designs that maintain traditional values and the principles of sustainability.
“Astra’s presence at World Expo Osaka 2025 brings the spirit of sustainability and community empowerment onto the global stage through the products crafted by Desa Sejahtera Astra and the Astra Foundation - Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation. We hope this will strengthen Astra’s role in promoting local potential and sustainability globally. Each product on display tells a story of the perseverance, innovation, and gotong royong (mutual cooperation) spirit of the Indonesian people, inspiring us to continue progressing and contributing to the nation for today and the future of Indonesia,” said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Boy Kelana Soebroto.
In addition to the product exhibition, Astra is also participating in the Business Forum at the Indonesia Pavilion, connecting its supported Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with prospective partners and potential buyers from various countries. In this forum, Astra is presenting the strengths and sustainability values of the featured products while opening up opportunities for cross-country collaboration.
Astra’s dedication to supporting community empowerment in Indonesia aligns with its mission to Prosper with the Nation and its commitment to supporting the achievement of Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
