JAKARTA: In celebration of its 69th anniversary, Astra invites the residents of Jakarta to experience the revitalized ambiance of the Setiabudi Astra MRT Station and MRT trains, featuring the works of Yogyakarta-based artists, indieguerillas. Through this new visual identity, Astra and indieguerillas present a narrative of Astra’s journey and its sustainable contributions, designed to accompany the public in their daily commutes.

The artist duo behind indieguerillas, Santi Ariestyowanti and Dyatmiko Bawono, are known for their independent, cross-thematic approach that utilizes public spaces as an element of their creative process. By integrating art into public infrastructure, indieguerillas offers a unique experience while advocating for sustainability as a vital component of a harmonious life. This shared vision and mission served as the foundation for the collaboration between Astra and indieguerillas, aiming to ensure that the spirit of the nation’s youth resonates within the daily lives of those in the capital.

“Collaborations with Indonesian artists represent Astra’s tangible support for the domestic creative industry, while providing a platform for talented artists to share their ideas and inspirations. The art displayed in this public space is intended to serve as a bridge, communicating the values, spirit of diversity, and stories of Astra’s sustainable social contributions, which we hope will inspire the Indonesian people every day,” stated Boy Kelana Soebroto, Chief of Corporate Affairs at Astra.

The new aesthetics of the Setiabudi Astra MRT Station and MRT trains represent connection, harmony, and sustainability. The artwork interprets Astra’s journey through the symbol of flowing, multi-colored scarves, illustrating the relationships between individuals, communities, and sustainability as part of a unified vision. The figures depicted reflect inclusivity, balanced roles, collaboration, and collective energy in building Indonesia's future. Furthermore, various visual elements represent Astra’s sustainable contribution programs in health, education, entrepreneurship, and the environment, as well as its commitment to sustainability that positively impacts people’s lives.

To mark the unveiling, Astra has introduced an inspirational corner featuring an interactive art installation titled “Weaving a New Spirit with Astra and indieguerillas,” that brings together visual art, public participation, and Astra’s contributions for Indonesia. Running from February 4 to 6, 2026, this initiative aims to transform public spaces into hubs for interaction, connecting art with the public’s daily routine.

Located within the Setiabudi Astra MRT Station, the installation invites commuters to participate in the creative process by coloring puzzle pieces created by indieguerillas. Once completed, these individual pieces are assembled into a cohesive art piece, symbolizing collaboration, diversity, and the spirit of togetherness.

Astra’s commitment to supporting the national creative industry, for today and the future of Indonesia, aligns with its mission to prosper with the nation and supports Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
