JAKARTA: Astra is committed to supporting the growth and development of national entrepreneurship, specifically Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs); Small and Medium Industries (SMIs); and Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDES) in Indonesia.

This commitment is demonstrated through Astra’s involvement in various strategic programs in collaboration with the government, such as the MSME and BUMDES Export-Ready Training “Harnessing the Potential of Flagship Products” held in Serang Regency, Banten Province, on Tuesday, December 10. MSMEs and BUMDES from across Banten Province participated in the training.

This Export-Ready Training for MSMEs and BUMDES is a strategic collaboration between Astra, the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendes PDT), the Provincial Government of Banten, and the Serang Regency Government. The shared objective is to empower village communities to become more self-sufficient and competitive at national and global levels.

The event was attended by Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto, Acting Director General of Economic Development and Investment for Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Bito Wikantosa, all Heads of Community and Village Empowerment Agencies in Banten Province, and Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Riza Deliansyah.

“To optimize the potential of village resources and flagship products for export, it is essential to enhance human resource capabilities, enabling them to compete globally and succeed in export markets. Therefore, Kemendes PDT and Astra initiated this collaboration to support the development and capacity-building of entrepreneurs across various regions for export,” said Minister Yandri Susanto.

“For 67 years, Astra has grown alongside Indonesian society, consistently contributing to national development for today and the future of Indonesia. Astra believes that collaboration is key to building national entrepreneurship. This contribution by Astra aims to strengthen synergy between the government, private sector, and village communities,” said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Riza Deliansyah.

In another initiative, Astra supports government efforts to foster partnerships between SMIs in the automotive component sector and large industries, in line with Law No. 3 of 2014 concerning industrial partnerships. Astra, through the Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation (YDBA), PT Astra Honda Motor, and PT Astra Otoparts Tbk, has again collaborated with the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) to develop automotive component SMIs and integrate them into Astra’s supply chain.

This collaboration was marked by the signing of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on Tuesday morning, December 10, at the Ministry of Industry Building in Jakarta. The signatories included YDBA, PT Astra Otoparts Tbk group, tier 1 suppliers of PT Astra Honda Motor, and SMIs fostered by Astra through YDBA.

A total of 60 MoUs were signed, involving 57 SMIs and 28 tier 1 suppliers of PT Astra Honda Motor and PT Astra Otoparts Tbk.

Since November 2022, Astra, through YDBA and PT Astra Honda Motor, has collaborated with the Ministry of Industry and KADIN to strengthen the supply chain of Astra-supported SMIs, involving 39 SMIs with transactions worth over Rp130 billion, surpassing the Rp105 billion target set for January 2023 to June 2024.

“We appreciate the extraordinary collaboration and synergy demonstrated by our partners, including PT Astra International Tbk, PT Astra Honda Motor, PT Astra Otoparts Tbk, YDBA, KADIN, and the Tegal Regency Government, in supporting the Ministry of Industry’s efforts to enhance the role of SMIs in the national automotive industry supply chain,” said Deputy Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia Faisol Riza in his remarks.

At the “Link and Match – Business Meeting between Automotive Component SMIs and Large Industries and Automotive Component SMI Partnerships with Large Industries Workshop” event, Astra received an award from the Ministry of Industry for its support of this partnership program.

Astra’s dedication to contributing to Indonesian society by supporting MSMEs, SMIs, and BUMDES is in line with Astra’s mission to prosper with the nation while supporting Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
