Astra Half Marathon 2024 “Run with Happiness”, Invites Over 5,000 Runners to Create Sustainable Positive Impact

TANGERANG, BANTEN: The medal ceremony marked the closing of Astra Half Marathon 2024 “Run with Happiness”, held today, November 10, at Astra Biz Center, BSD City, Banten. Over 5,000 runners showcased optimism and maintained a champion mentality as they completed the half marathon, 10K, and 5K races, embodying the spirit of Heroes’ Day celebrated on November 10. This year’s event also celebrates the 11th anniversary of Astra Runners, the running community within the Astra Group companies.

“Through Astra Half Marathon 2024, we invite people to adopt a healthy lifestyle, positive habits, and environmental consciousness. We hope Astra Half Marathon 2024 inspires collaboration and commitment to creating a sustainable positive impact on the environment for today and the future of Indonesia,” said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Riza Deliansyah.

Under the theme “Run with Happiness”, Astra Half Marathon 2024 invited participants to run happily from start to finish while promoting a healthy lifestyle and reducing single-use plastic waste. This year, Astra Runners remained consistent in their “We Run, We Care, We Share” campaign, encouraging runners and the wider community to care for the environment by reusing items (reuse), reducing single-use plastics (reduce), and recycling old products into something new and useful (recycle).

Participants of the Astra Half Marathon 2024 automatically contributed to single-use plastic waste management efforts, as part of their registration fees were donated to a collaborative program with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under the Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation (YDBA) that transforms single-use plastic waste into value-added products.

Astra Half Marathon 2024 featured a line-up of national athletes, including Agus Prayogo, Robi Syianturi, and Triyaningsih, as well as public figures such as Dion Wiyoko, Daffa Wardhana, Ardit Erwandha, Marsha Aruan, Kelly Tandiono, Shenina Cinnamon, Tarra Budiman, and Jourdy Pranata. Performances by DJ Yasmin and BCL added to the event’s excitement.

Total Prizes of Rp200 Million

Runners who finished the race within the cut-off time had the chance to win prizes totaling Rp200 million and consolation prizes such as running shoes, smartwatches, and a Honda Stylo motorcycle.

To motivate and ensure comfort for all participants, facilities such as ambulances along the route and at the race central, paramedic motorbikes, eight hydration points, two fruit stations, two energy gel stations, two sponge stations and water sprinkles, and five cheering areas were provided during the race. Participants were also covered by I-sport insurance from Astra Life, with benefits valued at Rp25 million and additional coverage for accident-related medical expenses amounting to Rp2.5 million.

Furthermore, using MYLAPS technology, participants could see their results in real time and download e-certificates containing their name and time record, giving clear documentation of their performance.

Founded on November 9, 2013, by a group of young Astra Group employees with a shared passion for running, Astra Runners organizes monthly running activities and annual races. The running community now has more than 2,000 members across Astra Group companies.

The campaign for a healthy and sustainable lifestyle through the Astra Half Marathon is in line with Astra 2030 Sustainability Aspirations and Astra’s mission to prosper with the nation while supporting Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
