TANGERANG: It was five o’clock in the morning. All participants were in their positions for the flag-off of the half-marathon race, followed by the 10K and 5K races, at the Astra Half Marathon 2023 “Xtramile” event today (11/5) at Astra Biz Center, BSD City, Banten.
“By involving the wider community, Astra hopes participating runners will not only inspire and support a healthy lifestyle but also foster a spirit of cooperation and involvement in creating positive environmental changes for today and the future of Indonesia,” said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Riza Deliansyah.
The Astra Half Marathon 2023, with its theme “Xtramile”, encourages the community to make more effort than is expected for the present and the future. Using Astra Runners’ tagline “We Run, We Care, We Share”, the event promotes environmental actions to participants, particularly to reuse disposable items, reduce single-use plastic consumption, and recycle used items into something new and useful.
By participating in the race, runners automatically support a waste management program that transforms waste into value-added products. This initiative is part of a collaboration with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) fostered by Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra (YDBA).
Runners who crossed the finish line within the cut-off time were rewarded with a medal, refreshment water, mineral water, and healthy snacks. Those who completed the 21K distance within the cut-off time also received a finisher tee and access to an exclusive area offering an ice pool and physiotherapy.
A host of national athletes and public figures took part in the second annual Astra Half Marathon this year, including Andrew White, Nana Mirdad, Dion Wiyoko, Tarra Budiman, Ardit Erwandha, Adinda Thomas, Sahila Hisyam, Agus Prayogo, Juphie Sembiring, Nur Shodiq, Triyaningsih, Odekta Naibaho, and Novia Nur Nirwani.
Performances from DJ Yasmin and RAN added to the excitement of the Astra Half Marathon 2023 finale.
