Astra Deploys Disaster Relief Assistance in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra

JAKARTA: Astra, through its Nurani Astra initiative, continues to channel humanitarian support to aid in the management of flash flood and landslide disasters across the regions of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. Various forms of assistance from Astra Group companies are being distributed via Nurani Astra, which has a long-standing history of executing humanitarian actions in numerous areas across Indonesia, particularly during emergencies such as the current disaster situation.

 

As part of its rapid response, Nurani Astra established 12 disaster relief hubs, comprising 3 hubs in Aceh, 8 in North Sumatra, and 1 in West Sumatra. In addition to serving as centers for aid distribution, these hubs also provide emergency internet communication access for the affected communities and smoother coordination on the ground. Several hubs are also housing survivors from various impacted villages.

 

Over 16,000 packages of essentials and emergency supplies have been distributed to meet the needs of the communities in the three provinces. Nearly 100 employees from the Astra Group have volunteered to assist with evacuation processes, registration, and aid distribution at various locations.

We hope this assistance will strengthen recovery efforts for the communities in the affected areas," said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Boy Kelana Soebroto.

 

Several Astra Group companies are also conducting emergency response actions tailored to on-the-ground needs: United Tractors has deployed 32 units of heavy equipment and tactical transport, including helicopters, to assist with opening road access, clearing landslide debris, and evacuations; Astra Honda Motor, through its official network, provides free servicing for affected residents' motorcycles and distributes emergency aid to alleviate community suffering; Toyota Astra Motor has contributed by providing essential basic needs packages and vehicle service assistance.

 

Furthermore, Astra has collaborated with several institutions, including humanitarian organizations and government agencies. The aid provided collectively amounts to hundreds of thousands of essential items, including clothing, baby supplies, foodstuffs such as rice and instant meals, drinking water, water tanks, and tanker trucks. The objective is to reach more people as quickly as possible.
