JAKARTA: Astra, in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, launched the Astra Export Champion: UMKM “BISA” Ekspor program today, May 19. This initiative aims to enhance the capacity and competitiveness of Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the global market.

The official kick-off event was attended by Indonesian Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade Fajarini Puntodewi, Special Staff for Inter-Institutional Relations Slamet Nur Achmad, Director of Primary Product Export Development at the Ministry of Trade Miftah Farid, and Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Boy Kelana Soebroto.

“The Astra Export Champion program, embodying the spirit of UMKM BISA Ekspor, is a tangible example of collaboration between the private sector and the government in building MSME capacity for global market penetration. I extend my gratitude and appreciation to Astra for its continuous commitment and contributions to enhancing community resources through its corporate social responsibility initiatives,” stated Minister Budi Santoso.

Beyond technical capacity-building, the program seeks to develop an entrepreneurial mindset that is resilient and globally competitive. Over six months, participants will engage in various activities, including general export knowledge sessions, incubation programs, business plan mentoring, business matching, and participation in the Trade Expo Indonesia 2025.

Participants are encouraged to formulate sustainable export strategies, with the goal of elevating Indonesian MSMEs and fostering their active participation in international trade.

“Astra believes that strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Trade through the Astra Export Champion: UMKM ‘BISA’ Ekspor program represents a concrete step toward building an inclusive and sustainable export ecosystem in Indonesia. By empowering MSMEs, enhancing capacities, meeting quality standards, and expanding global market access, this initiative aims to boost the competitiveness of local products in the international arena,” said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Boy Kelana Soebroto.

The Astra Export Champion: UMKM “BISA” Ekspor program aligns with Astra’s initiatives, Desa Sejahtera Astra and Kampung Berseri Astra, which have been developed since 2013. These programs support government efforts to improve community economic welfare through the development of Village Signature Products (Produk Unggulan Kawasan Desa/Prukades).

To date, Astra has supported the development of 1,515 villages across 35 provinces in Indonesia, successfully bringing local products to international markets with an export valuation of Rp349 billion.

MSME product development is further supported by one of Astra’s nine foundations, the Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation, which focuses on MSME development. This foundation has provided assistance to 13,663 MSMEs in Indonesia, contributing to the employment of 75,451 individuals.

Previously, Astra and the Ministry of Trade have collaborated on several initiatives, including export training programs, business matching facilitated by the Indonesia Trade Promotion Center and Trade Attachés, and ceremonial export launches for Desa Sejahtera Astra Turen Malang (2024) and Desa Sejahtera Astra Bayan Purworejo (2025). Astra has also participated in major international expos such as the Trade Expo, China-ASEAN Expo, and

Expos in Singapore, Germany, Turkey, and Amsterdam.

Astra’s commitment to strengthening MSME capacity and competitiveness in the global market, for today and the future of Indonesia, is in line with its mission to prosper with the nation while contributing to Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
