PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (AAL)

PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk, or Astra Agro (“the Company”), is one of the initiators of the Indonesian palm oil industry. It was established on October 3, 1988, under the name PT Suryaraya Cakrawala, but the Company changed its name to PT Astra Agro Niaga in 1989. The Company, a subsidiary of PT Astra International Tbk (Astra), has also been in the business of managing tea and cocoa plantations in Central Java since 1990, and now the Company has focused on oil palm plantations.

In line with the Company’s mission to contribute to national development and prosperity, within 2022, the Company strengthened its commitment to sustainable governance by introducing the Astra Agro Sustainability Aspirations 2030 initiative. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and adheres to the principles of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG). The Astra Agro Sustainability Aspirations 2030 is the Company’s strategy, implemented through 12 initiatives under the Triple-P Road Map: Portfolio, People, and Public Contribution, with Good Corporate Governance (GCG) as the key enabler.

Astra Agro was one of the first companies to obtain Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification in 2012 through one of its subsidiaries. This achievement demonstrates the Company’s efforts to meet sustainable palm oil plantation standards. To date, most of the Company’s subsidiaries have obtained ISPO certification. Furthermore, several subsidiaries have also received International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), demonstrating the Company’s commitment to strengthening sustainability.
