If you have ever heard of Astra’s various social programs focused on education, the environment, health, and community empowerment, some of those initiatives are implemented through the Astra Foundation. This institution stands as proof of Astra’s social responsibility in advancing Indonesia's competitiveness.

The Astra Foundation is a social institution established by PT Astra International Tbk to support the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. In general, the foundation focuses on education, environment, health, and entrepreneurship.
Currently, there are nine foundations under the Astra umbrella, including:
Yayasan Toyota dan Astra is the oldest Astra foundation, established in 1974. Its main purpose is to advance education in Indonesia by funding educational initiatives, research, and the development of science and technology.
In addition, the foundation also provides educational tools and books, especially related to automotive technology. To date, 564 beneficiaries have received assistance from Yayasan Toyota dan Astra, with total funding reaching IDR 366,000,000.
Established in 1980, this foundation’s purpose is to develop Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra focuses on key sectors to help MSME communities grow and thrive.
The goal is to help MSMEs become more independent and move up the value chain so they can compete effectively in both national and global markets. Currently, there are 1,681 beneficiaries, with a total of IDR 19,000,000,000 distributed.
This Astra Foundation was established in 1995 and focuses on education. Yayasan Astra Bina Ilmu has a vision to become a leading vocational higher education institution that produces graduates with internationally recognized competencies while developing applied technology relevant to current and future industries.
Currently, approximately 1,393 students are under the foundation’s guidance, with total distributed funding reaching IDR 19,000,000,000.
Established in 1995, Yayasan Astra Honda Motor focuses on education, road safety, environmental preservation, and community development. Its mission is to support community life in both educational and social fields.
This mission is reflected in programs such as scholarships for underprivileged and high-achieving students, the development of educational support facilities, and public education on motorcycle road safety.
In addition, the foundation also runs environmental conservation programs and charity activities related to social and cultural initiatives, including natural disaster response. To date, 41,687 beneficiaries have received support through this foundation, with total funding reaching IDR 4,960,000,000.
Established in 2001, this foundation focuses on education, economic empowerment, and social assistance. Programs implemented by Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Amaliah Astra aim to develop Intellectual Quotient (IQ), Emotional Quotient (EQ), and Spiritual Quotient (SQ) through social and religious activities.
Some activities held at the Astra Mosque include religious celebrations and programs that strengthen solidarity among Muslim professionals while improving Islamic knowledge. Additionally, the foundation also develops programs to support future religious leaders and facilitate the distribution of Zakat, Infaq, and Alms (ZIS) for scholarships and community entrepreneurship capital.
Through these initiatives, the foundation has supported 85,807 beneficiaries, distributing a total of IDR 19,400,000,000.
Yayasan Karya Bakti United Tractors has focused on education since its establishment in 2008. Its vision is to become the world's best institution for heavy equipment mechanic and operator training.
The UT School serves as the main platform for intensive education programs designed to prepare professional heavy equipment operators and mechanics who meet international standards. Currently, around 1,068 beneficiaries have benefited from programs run by Yayasan Karya Bakti United Tractors, with total funding reaching IDR 11,840,000,000.
Founded in 2009, this foundation focuses primarily on education. Its vision is to help elementary and secondary schools in underserved areas develop human resources, improve curriculum quality, and establish professional school management.
So far, 31,201 beneficiaries have received support, with total funding reaching IDR 40,000,000,000.
Established in 2010, Yayasan Astra Agro Lestari focuses on education. The foundation aims to create the best schools in plantation operational areas by providing better education for employee families and the surrounding communities.
In addition, it aims to produce graduates with strong academic performance who are innovative, ethical, and aware of health, safety, and environmental issues. Currently, there are 44,187 beneficiaries, with a total of IDR 470,000,000 in distributed funds.
The final foundation is Yayasan Ihsan Mulia Pama, established in 2014. The foundation aims to contribute positively to both company and community development by strengthening employee character through the values of faith, integrity, and good moral conduct.
Its main programs focus on managing charitable donations, organizing religious education and outreach, and implementing community social programs within the operational areas of the Pamapersada Nusantara Group. To date, 21,914 beneficiaries have received support, totaling IDR 20,350,000,000 distributed.

To better understand the Astra Foundation as part of Astra’s social initiatives, below are several impacts and real contributions from the foundations under Astra throughout 2024.
Through the Healthcare Assistance Program, Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Amaliah Astra (YAA) built 16 bore wells and sanitation facilities (MCK) in Banten and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) for remote Islamic boarding schools lacking access to clean water. Additionally, the foundation distributed reading glasses to 116 students and elderly individuals in DKI Jakarta and Banten.
The program also includes hearse services, which have assisted 105 families across five provinces, particularly Astra Group employees and underprivileged communities.
Through Yayasan Karya Bakti United Tractors, Astra established UT School, an institution designed to support the growing needs of the heavy equipment industry. The program aims to prepare skilled mechanics and operators with strong character to support sectors such as mining, construction, agriculture, and forestry.
As of 2024, UT School has produced 8,336 graduates from the Heavy Equipment Engineering program, including 59 IT graduates.
Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Amaliah Astra (YAA) distributes the Amaliah Astra Scholarship as part of a sustainable education program that provides not only financial assistance but also mentorship and training. In 2024, the program supported 2,378 beneficiaries across 33 provinces, including communities around Astra Group operational areas and partner schools.
Additionally, through Politeknik Astra (ASTRAtech), scholarships are also provided for high school and vocational school students, including recommendations from Astra Group companies. These scholarships include full tuition coverage and monthly allowances.
In 2024, ASTRAtech successfully implemented development programs to improve secondary education. These activities included student and teacher training programs, curriculum mentoring, teaching factory programs, competency assessments, and school visits to ASTRAtech facilities.
The program was implemented through collaboration with partners such as ESR Division of PT Astra International Tbk - Head Office, PT Astra Honda Motor, Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Pendidikan Astra Michael D. Ruslim, and PT Pamapersada Nusantara.
In 2024, Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Pendidikan Astra Michael D. Ruslim (YPA MDR) launched a Hydroponic Cultivation Development Program to foster environmental awareness and entrepreneurial spirit among vocational school students.
The program is divided into two categories: general Hydroponics for schools cultivating vegetables and special Hydroponics for vocational schools integrated with Teaching Factory (TeFa) programs in Agribusiness departments.
In 2024, the program was implemented in 80 schools across various regions, enabling them to grow hydroponic vegetables and melons.
Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra (YDBA) collaborated with multiple stakeholders to support MSMEs in entering large industrial supply chains. This initiative supports government policies aimed at strengthening supply chains and optimizing the Domestic Component Level (TKDN).
In 2024, YDBA expanded its partnership with PT Triatra Sinergia Pratama, helping MSMEs become suppliers within the company’s supply chain. By the end of 2024, the program had involved 57 MSMEs, generating transaction values reaching IDR165,000,000,000, or 157% of the target of IDR 105,200,000,000.
