Jakarta (17/01) – Toyota completed 2022 with a decent sales volume of 331,410 units on a wholesale basis. It was up 12.1% from 2021, which was at 295,000. With this in mind, Toyota has succeeded in leading the Indonesian automotive market with a market share of 31.6%.

Toyota is optimistic that this growth will be influenced by the recovery of the national economy and an increase in people's purchasing power. Thus it is in line with the market's growth as a whole, which has started a strong recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic in the past 2 years.

"In line with the improving national economy and increasing public purchasing power, it has had a positive impact on the sales performance of the automotive industry, including Toyota. We are grateful that up to now we are still able to run in harmony with the market and maintain a positive trend of sales growth throughout 2022 reaching more than 331,000 units. We hope, this trend will continue to move in a positive direction so that Toyota can contribute to improving the economy, while at the same time meeting the mobility needs of various customers," said Vice President of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Henry Tanoto.

Sales growth was strongly supported by positive customer acceptance of Toyota's product range. In terms of composition, Toyota's sales in 2022 will still be dominated by the MPV segment, which contributes 57.6%. Several Toyota MPV & SUV lines, such as Avanza, Kijang Innova & Kijang Innova Zenix, and Rush, are still the main choice for community mobility solutions and lead as the 3 best-selling cars from Toyota this year. This is reflected in Avanza's sales figures in 2022 which reached 60,619 units, an increase of 49% compared to the same period in 2021 of 40,777 units. Combined with Veloz, Avanza & Veloz's sales, its figures reached 92,641. Besides, the legendary Indonesian family car, the Kijang Innova, which has just upgraded its generation to become the Kijang Innova Zenix, recorded total sales of 46,933 units. When combined, the total sales of Toyota's MPV segment hold more than 52% of the national MPV market.
