What Is the MSME Program and Astra MSMEs?

An MSME program is an initiative designed to strengthen the competitiveness of small business owners so they become more productive, innovative, and self-reliant. These programs typically cover business management training, product quality improvement, digital marketing, and access to financing.

Astra MSMEs serves as an umbrella for the empowerment programs managed by Astra and the Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra (YDBA). The program aims to help small businesses grow, join major industrial supply chains, and access export markets.

Why the MSME Program Matters

Business owners often face challenges such as managing cash flow, attracting new customers, and improving product quality to remain competitive.

Astra's MSME program addresses these challenges. The following points highlight its importance.

1. Fostering Economic Independence in Communities

With strong management and production capabilities, MSMEs not only remain competitive but also thrive. They also create new job opportunities for the communities around them.

2. Strengthening the National Supply Chain

Many large industrial sectors rely on MSME suppliers. Through mentoring by the Yayasan Astra -  Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra (YDBA), MSMEs can meet industry standards and join Astra's supply chain.

3. Reducing Economic Inequality

MSME development across regions promotes more balanced economic growth, preventing concentration in major cities.

4. Supporting Business Sustainability

Business growth depends on a prosperous community. Therefore, every MSME program should align with the principle of shared value, fostering mutual growth.

Astra untuk Indonesia Kreatif: Astra's Social Contribution to MSME Development

Through Astra untuk Indonesia Kreatif, Astra develops MSMEs that supply the Astra Group and those near its facilities. The program empowers small business owners through training, institutional support, equipment assistance, and market access.

This initiative supports Astra's strategy to foster MSME self-reliance nationwide. Astra also operates the Astranauts program, managed by the Group Digital Strategy division, to accelerate MSME and start-up development in the sustainable economy sector through technology.

Astra views support for entrepreneurship and MSMEs as essential to strengthening the local economy. The Astra for Creative Indonesia initiative has mentored 1,285 MSMEs and 16 start-ups, and established 4 Business Development Institutions (LPB).

Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra (YDBA) Supports MSMEs in Major Industrial Supply Chains

As part of its efforts to support government policy in strengthening supply chains and optimizing the Domestic Component Level (TKDN), the Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra (YDBA) continues to collaborate with various stakeholders to bring MSMEs into major industrial supply chains.

Since 2022, YDBA has partnered with the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, KADIN Indonesia, and PT Astra Honda Motor to develop MSMEs as tier-1 suppliers for PT Astra Honda Motor. This collaboration continued through 2024, with PT Astra Otoparts Tbk joining as an additional partner.

In 2024, YDBA expanded its partnership with PT Triatra Sinergia Pratama, enabling mentored MSMEs to become suppliers. By December 2024, 57 MSMEs participated under YDBA mentorship, achieving transaction values of IDR 165 billion, or 157% of the original target of IDR 105.2 billion.
