In line with the portfolio development strategy in the environmentally friendly energy sector, PT Energia Prima Nusantara (EPN), a subsidiary of PT United Tractors Tbk, constructed an Off-Grid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) at PT Pamapersada Nusantara (PAMA) Site Muara Tiga Besar Utara (MTBU), South Sumatra, on February 16, 2024.
According to EPN Director Eko Harry Ariadin, this PLTS project is a manifestation of the company's commitment to implementing clean energy while considering environmental, economic, social, and good governance aspects.
"The installation of solar panel technology is a tangible manifestation of our capabilities and dedication to contributing to a better future. Through this project, we have undergone the decarbonization process in coal mining operations," explained Eko.
The PLTS at PAMA Site MTBU, which has a power capacity of 615.6 kWp and uses a 200 kWh battery, is the first PLTS in Indonesia to implement a combination of smart microgrid and battery systems. This PLTS installation can reduce carbon emissions in coal mining areas by up to 423.000 tons of carbon dioxide per year, equivalent to planting 19.000 trees.
Through this project, EPN and PAMA hope to enhance positive synergy and collaboration to reduce carbon emissions in coal mining operational areas, while also achieving harmonious relationships with the environment for a better future generation of Indonesia.
