Astra Group and Kimia Farma Support the ‘Gotong Royong’ Vaccination Program

Promoting Herd Immunity for a Socially and Economically Productive Indonesia

JAKARTA, 19 May 2021 – As many as 2,000 Astra Group employees from PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (AOP) and PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) received vaccinations supported by PT Kimia Farma Tbk through the Gotong Royong Vaccination program. It is the initial phase of vaccinations planned for more than 300,000 Astra Group’s employees and their family members throughout Indonesia following the availability of vaccines coordinated by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). As per the government instruction, Kimia Farma would be responsible for supplying the vaccines, including to Astra Group.

The kick-off of the employee vaccination program was held yesterday (18/5) in the Jababeka Industrial Estate, Cikarang, West Java. The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, observed the implementation in person. He was accompanied by the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia Muhammad Lutfi, Minister of Investment of the Republic of Indonesia Bahlil Lahadalia, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Rosan P. Roeslani, and West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil.

At this initial phase, a total of 18 companies, including AOP and UT, participated in the Gotong Royong Vaccination program simultaneously.

“Astra Group welcomes the Gotong Royong COVID-19 Vaccination program for Employees that began yesterday because the health and safety of employees have always been the Company’s top priority since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope that Astra Group’s participation can help the government in accelerating the realization of herd immunity to support the national economic recovery,” said Astra’s President Director Djony Bunarto Tjondro.

Kimia Farma, through its subsidiary, PT Kimia Farma Diagnostika (KFD), was the healthcare provider in the Gotong Royong Vaccination for AOP and UT employees and their family members.

The vaccination of AOP and UT employees ran smoothly with strict health protocols. Vaccination officers from KFD conducted antigen swab tests before the vaccination. This process was also carried out under strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure that vaccination providers and recipients were in good health.

Kimia Farma prepared a digital service to ensure that the implementation of the Gotong Royong Vaccination program ran conveniently and safely.

Under this service, vaccinations participant need to first log in to the Kimia Farma Mobile application and enter their data of email address/phone number that their companies have registered. To view a reservation, participants need to select the history menu and click on vaccination.

The third step is the Registration QR Code. To get a code, participants need to fill out a pre-vaccination screening questionnaire 2 hours ahead of the scheduled appointment. The fourth step is getting vaccinated: Participants go through the entire series of examinations up to inoculation. Participants will be inoculated using vaccines determined by the government. Each vaccine injected into each participant will have its vial code scanned to track its authenticity.

The fifth step is observation. Participants need to wait in the observation room for 30 minutes and fill out a post-vaccination questionnaire on the Kimia Farma Mobile application. Participants who experience adverse events following immunization (AEFI) must immediately report to health officers. Finally, the completion step. Participants will receive notification regarding the vaccination certificate via the Kimia Farma Mobile application or SMS.

Kimia Farma is the first pharmaceutical industry company in Indonesia which was founded by the Dutch East Indies Government in 1817. The name of the company was initially NV Chemicalien Handle Rathkamp & Co.

Meanwhile, companies that will participate in the Gotong Royong Vaccination must first be registered with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Furthermore, Kadin cooperates with Bio Farma through its subsidiary PT Kimia Farma Tbk. In distributing and injecting the Mutual Cooperation Vaccination, the pharmaceutical issuer with the stock code of KAEF appointed the grandson of success, PT Kimia Farma Diagnostika. Kimia Farma Diagnostika is a subsidiary of PT Kimia Farma Apotek.

Gotong Royong Vaccination is a vaccination program for employees/women, families, and other individuals related to the family whose funding is borne by legal entities/business entities. Since mid-January 2021, the government has held a free Vaccination Program for priority groups such as health workers and the elderly.
