 Astra has a multi-layered approach to building stronger community ties. Programs are designed to complement Astra's key competences. The development of vibrant businesses associated with Astra's production value chain has proven highly successful and has given long-lasting benefits. In parallel investment in long term health and education infrastructure provides great promise as healthy and educated people can more easily provide for themselves.
Astra has divided its CSR programs into five interconnected areas: humanitarian assistance, partnership program, education, healthcare, and public infrastructure development. Astra is proud to be a part of people's lives and envigorated by the opportunity to assist the nation. Some of Astra's on-going programs are the Sunter Nusa Dua project, which assists communities near Astra's head office with a variety of community development projects; the construction of a model Elementary School at Meulaboh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam; and a yearly scholarship program, which assists students of schools located around Astra's offices and facilities.
Astra and Astra Group companies have established a number of foundations to coordinate their CSR activities in addition to individual company CSR endeavours. These foundations and companies are responsible for designing and implementing their own projects; however, overall project success is measured by Astra through its Astra Friendly Company (AFC) framework. As part of its commitment, Astra has published an annual Sustainability Report since 2006. |
